The kingdom of Nepal was divided into small
 States and Principalities which lack unity.

Karnali state had 22 states, Gandaki state had
 24 states, In east (makwanpur and vijayapur)
 there was sen kingdom.
Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and lalitpur were
 known as Nepal.

In the west of valley there was Gorkha.

INTRODUCTION
Father: Nara Bhupal Shah
Mother: Kaushalyawati Shah
Birthdate:7th January 1723
Brought up by his first mother Chandra
 Prabhavati
Time Period Of Rule:32 yrs(1743-1775 A.D)
THE PROCESS OF UNIFICATION
started to train his armies and produce weapons
attacked neighbouring states
conquered Nuwakot in 1744 A.D,
cut off communication of Kathmandu valley with
 outside world
got advices and arms from British
conquered kirtipur in 1766 A.D on third attempt
THE PROCESS OF UNIFICATION
66% of the people from Kritipur were massacred
in 1768 A.D , attacked kathmandu in the occasion
 of Indrajatra festival
few weeks later attacked Patan and Bhaktapur
Jay Prakash Malla suicide, Tej Narsingha Malla
 was dumped in a pit and two eyes of Ranjit Malla
 was pierced
THE PROCESS OF UNIFICATION
made kathmandu valley the capital of Nepal in
 1769
started to unite eastern states
extended nepal from punjab to sikkim
sealed his border and maintained peaceful but
 distant relations with the British, refusing to
 trade with them
IN THE END

January 1775,at the age of 52 yrs, he left the
 world

Upon his death,Prithvi Narayan Shah was
 succeeded by his son Pratap Singh Shah
• Unified Nepelese from Dudkoshi and
  Arunkoshi in east to Chepe and Marsyangdi in
  west
A diplomat

• never let to enter into the foreign Mahajan
  (Merchants/Traders) above than Parsa-Gadi
• This state (Nepal) is like a yam (gourd) between
  two stones.
• Strong relationship with china ,English might
  come anytime looking for safe place.
• Do not go there (down) to fight with them. Let
  them come here (hilly region) and fight with
  them

• Export our products and other Herbs to
  the foreign countries

• Always try to earn money from external
  trade

• The Palace (Country) will remain stronger
  if our people become capable

• wealthy people are the treasury (asset) of
  the King.

• Leave plain Areas for Agriculture.

• Rules on division of labour based on their
  castes.
