Prince Rupert's Drops are glass objects formed by dripping molten glass into cold water, creating a tadpole-shaped droplet with a long tail. Though Prince Rupert did not discover them, he brought them to Britain in 1660 and gave them to King Charles II, who had the Royal Society study them. The drops are mysterious because breaking the tail causes the entire droplet to almost instantly shatter, despite the glass having strong internal stress fields.
