End users can easily design report layouts using familiar desktop tools, dramatically reducing the time and cost to develop and maintain reports
 7. interface ensuring “no person or project is left behind” Fragmented project participation results in reduced velocity, efficiency, visibility, and ultimately success Difficult to collate, collect, corral, & act on the right information Incomplete visibility & higher overhead by maintaining multiple project management systems Both the hard and the soft costs associated with disparate project managment systems is staggering. Companies are using multiple PM systems, from MSP to excel to pen and paper. The result is lack of visibility, disconnected information, and the immense amount of effort that is required on part of someone to gather the rigth information at the right time to make the right decision. Now if u step back…there are some valid and some invalid excuses for this in the organzation. There really isnt one solution out there that really scales the maturity level….my planners schedulers needs MS Project, but the team lead is just fine with excel. With R8…we can remove that excuse. managing multiple project management systems. Lack of Standardization – disparate PM sytems from MSP to Excel to pen and paper. Even those that have a web ppm solution, the Web PM component is not robust enough to meet the needs of the org. No single source of truth – disparate systems result in disconnected information…different version of information. With R8…we are in the “rid the world of excuses” business. Ensure that we focus on work mgmt. Elevator Pitch: Stakeholders benefit from a single version of the truth where all project-related mission-critical information is contained within a single integrated solution. Business Value: Extend enterprise PPM to all business processes, enterprise systems, project participants, and portfolio stakeholders. Streamline processes; improve efficiencies, increase team productivity, and speed project delivery, with higher quality and at a lower cost. Enable end-to-end enterprise portfolio management by combining project execution with ERP, SCM, HCM and CRM. Aberdeen report: On E&C Brian to send. Top challenges Many organizations do not adopt enough of their project participants in the solution, therefore not enough information is available to make informed decisions. In addition, organizations spend too much cost and effort, manually getting project updates from the field, weather it be sub-contractors, field crew leaders, or individual participants. P6 R8 enables true collaborative project planning and updating and provides increased control so the PMO and master schedulers can feel comfortable to loosen the reigns and let others provide updates to the project plan and status their work. R8 also provides new capabilities for the field to communicate with the back office folks. Lastly, there are new views to extend the relevance and usefulness of P6 and allow the tool and users to grow together.

This view will be familiar to P6 Windows client users who have used the Projects view. v

 17. Scheduling 2000 activities in v7 client scheduler was approx 8 secondsScheduling same 2000 activities in v8 web scheduler is now sub 2 seconds Scheduling 5000 activities in v7 client scheduler was approx 11.5 secondsScheduling same 5000 activities in v8 web scheduler is now approx 6 seconds It’s looking like we’re seeing a minimum of 100% improvement in scheduling times over v7 Many improvement initiatives and feature enhancements have been planned for P6 Web v8. Performance improvements have been made to the load times of the Activity Gantt, Portfolios, Baseline, Copy project and other areas (a full list of completed tasks are located at the end of this document.) Performance testing has been executed to measure both backend performance amongst the supported databases and application servers. Single user testing under load has been executed to better understand the end user experience. Most importantly we have successfully smoked tested the Activity Gantt to 150 users. This release the Job Service has been re-architected using Java instead of Delphi. Testing was executed to understand the scalability of the P6 v8 Job Service and how it would compare to P6 v7 version. End user testing has been executed for applicable new feature areas. Testing in the following areas have been executed: Apply Actuals, Automatic Portfolios, Copy Project, Push Down Fields, and Add WBS Templates.
