Romanian Christmas traditions include making a star out of paper and wood to carry through neighborhoods while singing carols. Children go from house to house singing until early Christmas morning. The singing of carols is an important part of Romanian festivities throughout the Christmas season. Traditional Romanian Christmas foods include various pork sausages, plum brandy, pickles, stuffed cabbage rolls, roasted pork and turkey with wine. A rich fruit bread called "cozonac" is the traditional Christmas dessert and requires long preparation. The Christmas tree is decorated on Christmas Eve with nuts, fruits, and candies wrapped in colored paper.
