1000 properties across Asia and Europe. Originally launched as a flash-sales only site in July
2012, the fast-growing startup has quickly emerged as a regional trendsetter in the travel market,
shifting its focus to villa bookings in the past year.
“The villa market has picked up exceptionally well, which is why we’ve redesigned the site to
make booking your luxury escape even easier and more enjoyable” says Stephanie Chai, Founder
and CEO of TheLuxeNomad. “New features, such as a live instagram feed of properties, really

In tandem with its new focus, The Luxe Nomad has raised funds from strategic investors such as
Douglas Khoo, one of the founders of Qunar, China’s largest travel portal, and other private
investors. “When I first came across Stephanie and her team I gave them a test – to find me a great
5-bedroom villa in Phuket for my family and I. Not only was the rate cheaper than the hotel I
initially booked, it was a true 5-star experience as we had our own infinity pool, butler and private
chef,” Khoo notes. “Whilst there are travellers who just want the best deal in town, there are
others such as myself who want a site that makes booking a stylish getaway easy. With
TheLuxeNomad.com, you know that it’s a combination of both”.
According to the ITB World Travel Trends Report 2014, Asia takes the lead in the international
tourism market. Outbound trips from Asia itself increased by 53% from 2009 to 2013, and when it
comes to outbound trips, Europe tops the list for the Asian traveler, making adding European
villas a natural step for TheLuxeNomad.com.
