Innovation
Femaag presents the DemoS lane divider and DemoS collating unit,
highly compact and flexible equipments adapted to all kinds of containers, even the
most fragile ones.
For its second participation in the All4Pack exhibition, the French start-up company specializing in
mechanization equipment for packing lines will be presenting 2 new units, a lane divider and a
collating unit, that enable manufacturers to easily prepare any grouping they want in minimum
space. The DEMOS concept has already been adopted by a major actor of HPC products and is
now ready for applications in other market segments.
A 90° guiding lane divider for simultaneous feeding of all tracks
The DemoS lane divider allows to send, in a steady stream and without preliminary spacing, rows
of containers coming from a single lane infeed towards a multitrack conveyor positioned
perpendicularly.
The 90° transfer instantaneously offers a perfectly even distribution amongst all tracks of the
downstream conveyor and thus allows to avoid all the belts otherwise necessary to collate lines of
containers. As a result, the installation requires 4 to 6 times less space and takes up 4 sqm only.
An ultra-flexible grouping system
The DemoS collating unit allows to easily create any desired grouping through a simple set-up of
spacings in the belt running direction as well as crosswise. The extremely precise positioning of
groupings allows to feed any kind of downstream equipment (gripping head, lapping station of a
shrink wrapper, wrap around case packer).
Optimum container protection
One of the distinctive characteristics of the DemoS lane divider and collating unit is that they
handle containers individually, by means of guiding systems that enable to smoothly move
products without any friction and to avoid having one container ever pushing another one. The
DemoS concept is thus perfectly suited for unstable and fragile containers.
Simple equipments suitable for high outputs and multiple sizes and shapes
The DemoS lane divider and collating unit can both manage outputs up to 50 000 bph. They have
been designed to adapt easily to any kind of container (round, square with round corners, ovoid,
rectangular) with short changeover times : simple set-up, removable guiding tools, less
adjustments needed.

Nested packs come to Europe
After having imposed themselves in less than 5 years as a standard in North America,
nested packs are now used in Europe for the grouping of water bottles. They should very
soon be part of our daily lives.
Pushed by CG Roxane
In less than 5 years, nested packs have convinced all majors American bottlers, primarily
motivated by the significant savings they offer on transportation costs as well as on
environmental impact.
American bottlers first implemented nested packs on their larger groupings (35,32,28,24),
then on smaller ones (15,12).
The Cristaline brand (Roxane group) was the first one, simultaneously with CG Roxane in
the United States, to introduce this new pack in Europe with a grouping of 24x50cl for
foodservice professionals.
Adopted by European bottlers
Nested packs have since then been adopted, amongst others, by Saint Lambert in France,
Spadel in Belgium and Aquadeus in Spain. The two latter ones also sell nested packs in
supermarkets (24x33cl, 24x50cl and 20x33cl).
Nested packs have thus for good entered the European scene and the last barrier to their
development (the supposed reluctance of consumers) should be lifted very soon on the
old continent.
A big potential for development on new markets
Nested packs have a potential for development that goes far beyond the market of bottled
water. Indeed, canned beverages and canned food can also benefit from all the
economical and environmental advantages proposed by this new grouping method :
removal of cardboard trays, use of thinner films, optimized palletization. Nested packs
should thus very soon be part of our daily lives !
The asymmetrical staggering of columns is developing
This particular pattern, in which one column out of two has one container less than the
others, brings a lot of benefits :
- it maximizes packs’ stiffness,
- with squarer and more robust bull’s eyes, it allows additional savings on film’s
thickness, makes handling easier and reduces the risk of having containers taken out
through the bull’s eye,
- it is well perceived by consumers both visually and in use.
Asymmetrical nested packs are developing everywhere in the world, in particular since
FEMAAG has launched its patented Nest’Packer module which is able to produce this

pattern very easily on any shrink-wrapper without having to implement complex
modifications.
The Nest’Packer staggering devices from FEMAAG support this development
FEMAAG Nest’Packer devices are mechanical modules fitted in the collating unit, between
the original product selection system and the lapping unit.
They are and easy, reliable and economical way to equip any shrink-wrapper with a
staggering solution :
- while retaining the possibility to produce «conventional» packs,
- without modifying the product selection system,
- without having to extend the machinery,
- without any modification on electrical wiring and controllers,
- retaining the existing conveying system and palletizer,
- choosing between the 4 existing patterns of nested packs the one that offers the higher
savings.
They are installed within a day and paid off within a few months.
To date, half of Nest’Packer installations where made on production sites outside North
America (Europe, Caribbean, Africa).

Clever solutions that boost your packing lines
Femaag’s mission is to invent innovative, simple and reliable equipments that bring real
added value to industrial manufacturers, their distributors and consumers.
The aim of this French start-up company is to increase customers’ efficiency and
profitability by working towards :
- reduced production costs,
- increased productivity,
- optimized product handling,
- reduced environmental impact of packing processes.
Innovation is essential to FEMAAG’s DNA. The company invents on average one new
concept for packaging and packing line mechanization every year. These concepts, which
distinguish themselves by their simplicity, are generally patented.
The immediate economical benefits brought by FEMAAG’s solutions enable the company
to grow rapidly by earning the trust of key accounts in the food and non-food industries.
« Our creativity takes root in industrial reality. »
François Gosset - Founding President
To date, FEMAAG’s offering comprises :
- an exhausive offering for nested packs, which includes devices capable of producing 4
different patterns, a pallet pattern design tool and adaptation services for shrink-
wrappers as well as palletizers,
- an easy opening system for shrink-packs that is ergonomic, reliable and cost-effective,
- a highly flexible and compact concept for dispatching and grouping all kinds of
containers, even the most unstable and fragile ones.
