This document describes an automatic street light control system that uses a light dependent resistor (LDR) sensor to detect light levels and switch street lights on and off without manual operation. When the LDR sensor detects darkness above a certain level, it activates a transistor switch to turn on the lights. The system gets its power from a solar panel and battery, providing a renewable energy source. It has advantages of being low cost, using automated operation and low power consumption. Potential disadvantages include risk of theft and needing to replace rechargeable batteries over time. The system has applications for street, yard, park and industrial lighting.
