2. 1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media products?
COVER: My cover included lots of aspects of a real life music magazine. The masthead is placed at
the top of the page in block capitals and bold lettering in a sans serif font. The long shot is of two band
members looking straight into the camera, this causes them to engage with the audience. There is one
single image, although it takes up the bulk of the page. I have added a barcode, price, issue, date, sell
line, to my cover as these are necessary for any magazine cover. I have also included a few other cover
lines in a bold sans serif font also, to keep he theme running through the magazine, and maintaining
consistency. The themed colours are somewhat restricted, although this adds a sense of sophistication
and edge to the magazine cover, also setting a theme throughout the music magazine. I kept to the idea
of the rule of thirds throughout the creation of my music magazine cover for ’OFF!’.
