This document discusses traditional houses found in desert regions of Egypt. The houses are made from mud and clay with straw or open roofs. Windows are left open. These house designs would not be suitable for the climate in North Carolina due to heavy rain, snow, and temperature extremes that could damage the mud construction or endanger occupants.

1. Houses in the Desert! This houses is in Siwa Desert in the Western Desert in Egypt. This house was made from mud, and clay. The windows are open.By: Michaela Hall

2. This house is from Siwa Oasis in EgyptThis house would not work in North Carolina because when we get a lot of rain it would destroy the house. And the house is made out of mud. The roofs are made from made from mud or they are left open. The windows are left open.

3. Can you see the straw roof?This house is from Jodhpur.This would not work in Ncbecause of rain, snow, and the other weather that we get. The roof would be destroyed if it rains. At night in the winter they would freeze to death. In the summer they would be too hot.

4. This house is in Khaybar. The houses is made from mud and clay.This would not work in Nc because of the weather we get.

5. The people they find the water by camel or they live near a water source. The start fires or they cook the food by the sand.I don’t think that we could fix the house to adapt in North Carolina.
