This document defines and discusses five main types of pollution: air, water, noise, land, and radioactive. It provides an overview of each type including their definitions, causes, effects, and methods of prevention. Air pollution is caused mainly by industries, automobiles, and domestic fuels and affects human health, animals, plants, and the atmosphere. Water pollution is caused by organic/inorganic industrial and residential wastes and can cause diseases. Noise pollution stems from traffic, construction, industries, and other sources and has health impacts. Land pollution is from mining, sewage, households, and industries. Radioactive pollution is from nuclear power/weapons and mining and can increase cancer risks.
