This document outlines an agenda for a professional development meeting at Lafayette High School on integrating reading and writing in content areas. The meeting will include comparing standards, developing a school-wide grading rubric, analyzing student data using the rubric, and creating thematic units. A needs assessment survey found that 54% of teachers wanted more training in reading and writing processes. The school's goal for 2015-2017 is to increase student achievement on the FSA Writing Assessment by boosting teacher knowledge of the reading-writing connection. Attendees will identify as different learning styles and work in groups to outline expectations for the workshop based on their style.
