Great travel quotes are timeless. They are energizing reminders of why we leave our nests and venture to unfamiliar places.
When we need inspiration, or feel tired or homesick, let these quotes remind us of why we travel: to grow and discover ourselves, and to experience how different the world is from home, but yet similar.
Here are some of the best travel quotes I have come across. Enjoy!
Who doesn't love Thanksgiving? I know I do. But, I also love helping out those who might not be as fortunate during the holiday season. Check out this brief show to see how you can help out during the Thanksgiving season this year!

Looking back on my
Vietnam
trip I now realize that it was worthwhile. It shaped me as a person in being open-minded, a risk taker, a communicator, knowledgeable, caring, a thinker and an inquirer. This ten-day trip changed me inside out. I started noticing people around me who were less privileged than I. This trip made me more caring towards other people due to the incident that occurred when I was at the market. I came across a poor female vendor selling hand painted portraits for livelihood. When she offered me to buy her painting, I bought one out of sympathy more than the requirement, however I offered a couple of oranges for her baby whom she was carrying on her back. This gesture attracted other vendors like herself resulting in all of them wanting an orange. Before I knew it I had handed out all of my oranges to each one of them. I realized that didn’t irritate me at all, on the contrary I was overwhelmed with joy seeing the smile on their faces, it warmed my heart. The conditions that I witnessed of different standards of living made me more knowledgeable about different aspects in life.
In addition, I have visited a few villages in the South of
Vietnam
where I found families happy and content in their simple and humble lifestyles and I saw children playing without toys and families living without electronics, this made me more appreciative of the things in life that we usually take for granted.
On this trip I felt a sense of independence as I had to do all my chores by myself like hand washing my clothes, making my food, putting up our tents, all of this without minimum necessities such as water or electricity. I remember spending the night on a rough ground with sharp pebbles that bruised my body through the sleeping bag not to mention the strong cold winds that kept me awake all night. A quick shower every few days was a luxury. The countless hours of trekking and outdoor activities were exhausting and terrifying but I did it anyway to widen my experience horizon, which made me a risk taker because I stepped out of my comfort zone. I also used my creativity skills to build my group a boat to cross a lake.
To conclude, this trip changed me as in I have a perspective on life and its values. I started appreciating the luxuries (running water, air conditioning accessible showers at all times), which I was used to take for granted. This experience has educated me as a human being so that I am no longer an ignorant person that I was yesterday.
In the future I see myself organizing similar trips for ultra-privileged children from first world countries so that they too can experience, connect and have a different perspective on the significant values of life.

1. Pride Stories
• These photos and stories reflect what I am
proud of, the knowledge I have gained and
used, as well as describing to you my personal
brand.
• Enjoy!
2. Newly acquired property requires front/back yard work that was
estimated to cost tens of thousands to be contracted out. I began
last summer by myself expecting only to avoid these costs
entirely for my family. Our front yard grass is greener than all
the neighbors and in a way at least some of my debt to my
parents are repaid. I also learned the value of hard labor and the
primal satisfaction of “working the land”. This work involved
significant use of my planning, safety, and determination skills.
3. • I was raised in a Catholic school system but do not consider myself part of the
Church. I had purchased this religious artwork from an artisan in a poverty stricken
part of Mexico and everyday I appreciate what it represents. The handcuffs and
epaulettes are included in my little “corner of values” as working in the security
industry has taught me the value of working to improve your own community and
justice. This is a picture of my own personal “shrine” and reminds me daily of how
to act as a citizen of humanity.
4. • In the summer of 2005 I went to the Philippines, Manila and learned some
basic Scuba diving concepts/principles. The above picture is of the training.
Shortly after I experienced shallow water coral reef diving and it was the
most surreal experience. It was almost like visiting another planet and I
recommend anybody to do it at least 10 times. It is very safe and rewarding.
It taught me to appreciate the diversity of nature and to try out complicated
hobbies as the reward is often worth it.
5. • This is a picture of a dragon boat on a river located on Center Island, Ontario. I was
assigned a security position to watch the boats for 13 hours on a lonely island with
sparse human traffic. I learned how to meditate and be alone with my thoughts. The
silence at night was surprisingly natural – only the sound of the water and the wind
in the trees. The calm pulsing of a nearby cellphone tower light grounded me in
reality. It is moments like these that a man must face his own life and thoughts. In a
fast paced world we often forget to ponder who we are and what we have become.
6. • This is my car that recently broke a “tie-rod” that could have killed me if it
happened on the highway. With my luck, it happened right in front of a freshly
opened car shop and cost hundreds less than it could have in a slightly different
situation. I consider owning a car to be like owning a horse in earlier times. I have a
lot of stories with this car and a lot of money was spent keeping my horse
productive and able to pull its worth on the farm. I can recall countless experiences
with this car and when she retires, I will park her in my backyard and sit in it from
time to time. She has taught me the value of spending money to make money and
taking proper care of a real asset.
