The Pakistan Army was formed after independence from British India in 1947. It has fought three wars against India and engaged in border skirmishes with Afghanistan and India. The army has also participated in UN peacekeeping missions. It is currently conducting anti-terrorist operations along the Afghanistan border. The army is the largest branch of the military and is responsible for protecting Pakistan's borders and national interests.
