The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was founded on August 14, 1947. With over 70,000 active duty personnel and 1,046 aircraft, the PAF defends Pakistan's aerial borders and supports the army and navy. Its mission is to provide aerial defense for Pakistan in a cost-effective manner, and its vision is to be one of the most respected air forces in the world. The PAF flies aircraft like the JF-17 Thunder, Mirage 5, Chengdu J-7, and F-16 Fighting Falcon. It celebrates Air Force Day on September 7th and is headquartered in Islamabad.
