The name of Rabindranath Tagore popularly known as
“GURUDEV” is famous not only in our country for his contribution
in the field of education, but all over the world.
Biography
• Rabindranath Tagore (7May 1861-7August1941)
• He was a Poet ,writer , philosopher , composer and painter.
• He was the first non European to win Nobel Prize In Literature
• He wrote the National Anthem of India and Bangladesh .
• He founded Santiniketan in 1901and Viswabharati University in 1921.
• He believed that the aim of education is self- realisation.

• The teacher must be a guide and true mentor who motivates the
students .
• The teacher must be dedicated to learning.
• A teacher should be given light to the whole universe.
• The teacher must teach moralistic and ideal ethics to the students.
• The teacher must be pure hearted.
• The teacher should behave with students with great love and affection
Conclusion
• Tagore suggested that would educational system not only developed the
knowledge but also influence the intellectual development, physical
development , moral development, social development, and spiritual
development.
• Tagore believed that education should help an individual to attain complete
manhood.
• With the application of Tagore thoughts the students will be able to excel not
only in education but also in extra curricular activities with spiritual , moral,
and aesthetic values.
