The document discusses the infrastructure for collaborating web archives. It describes Memento, which interconnects current and archived versions of web resources across distributed systems. An aggregator is proposed that provides timegates and timemaps to access versions from multiple archives. APIs and services are presented to allow applications to retrieve and reconstruct archived versions from the aggregator. While challenges exist in polling many archives efficiently, usage statistics show the time travel infrastructure sees millions of requests monthly.

Maphub und Pelagios: Anwendung von Linked Data in den Digitalen Geisteswissen...Bernhard Haslhofer
In recent years, scientists at the Austrian Institute of Technology have been involved in numerous projects in the digital humanities area. In this talk, Dr. Bernhard Haslhofer will present two of them, both having a strong focus on applying the Linked Open Data method on datasets produced throughout the project. The first is Maphub (http://maphub.github.io/), an open source Web application which allows users to create annotations on historical maps, link these annotations with other Web sources (e.g., Wikipedia), and share annotations as Linked Open Data following the Open Annotation model. The second is Pelagios (http://pelagios-project.blogspot.co.at/), a community initiative that aims to facilitate better linking between online resources documenting the past, based on the places they refer to. To date, Pelagios interconnects 900.000+ heterogeneous digital objects - literature, archaeology, epigraphy, cartography - from 40+ international partners. The current focus of the project is to annotate Early Geospatial Documents - documents that use written or visual representation to describe geographic space prior to the European discovery of the Americas in 1492, and make the annotations available as (Linked) Open Data.

The Rijksmuseum Research Library faces challenges in adapting to new research methods and technologies while maintaining its historical role supporting the museum's collections. As the library professionalized in the 20th century, it focused on cataloging and automating its collections. It now aims to overcome organizational "silos," provide interdisciplinary access, and develop new digital services through an open, networked approach as part of the museum's Research Services department.
The Historical Wiki of Vienna is a collaborative online knowledge base about the history of Vienna, Austria's largest city. It was created through a partnership between the Municipal and Provincial Archives of Vienna and the Vienna City Library. The wiki brings together historical information from these institutions and external experts, with the goal of building a comprehensive, georeferenced digital resource about Vienna's history. Content comes from digitizing an existing historical encyclopedia about Vienna and ongoing contributions from editorial staff and external contributors. Over 28,000 articles and 1,400 images provide information on people, locations, buildings, organizations, and events.
The document describes three recent initiatives that present linked (open) data:
1. Alexander Derveaux (FOMU) presents the creation of a linked open data authority for photographic paper using Wikibase open source software.

PACKED advocates for open data in the cultural heritage sector. They discuss infrastructure for publishing open data, including using persistent URI's and platforms like Wikidata. PACKED provides training on open data topics and helps cultural institutions publish collections. Their goal is to make more data available and reusable while addressing challenges like inconsistent data formats across institutions. The Flemish Art Collection discusses their work to aggregate collection data from different museums into a central Datahub and publish it through their Arthub portal. They aim to improve data quality and automate sharing to open up more collections.

In 2018 the ‘Strategy for culture in the digital age’ was published by the Flemish minister of culture. The culture sector is exploring open data to improve access of their collections for diverse groups of users. PACKED has researched, developed and published data, tools and strategies using open source and open data as a lever for building a sustainable digital memory. Aside from sharing our projects, results and peeking at the new challenges that lie ahead, we provide a platform for two of our partners to showcase projects which were set up in collaboration with PACKED:
-The King Baudouin Foundation collaborated with PACKED in order to open up their collections on Wikimedia plaftorms
-The Flemish Art Collection presents the Datahub and Arthub projects, which gives the public access to the visual arts in Flanders and facilitates (re-)use
- PACKED advocates for open data in the cultural heritage sector through various projects and training. They developed CultURIze, a tool to help small museums assign persistent URIs to collection items.
- The King Baudouin Foundation shares collection data on Wikimedia platforms like Wikidata to make it more accessible. Challenges include normalizing data from different sources and systems.
- The Flemish Art Collection's Arthub and Datahub projects aim to publish collection data as open data through APIs and formats. An ETL pipeline extracts, transforms and loads data from various museum databases into a central repository for reuse.
Library labs as experimental incubators for digital humanities researchSally Chambers
This presentation was delivered as one of the keynotes at the 23rd International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (TPDL 2019) on 9-12 September 2019 at OsloMet - Oslo Metropolitan University, Oslo, Norway. http://www.tpdl.eu/tpdl2019/keynotes/
Can we consider libraries as the laboratories of the humanities? If so, would they be good places to observe and better understand the everyday practices of the humanist at work? Similarly, can the notion of the laboratory as a place of scientific experimentation be applied to libraries as a place to experiment with digital cultural heritage collections? Could “library labs” enable humanities researchers, cultural heritage professionals and computer scientists to work more closely together to push the boundaries of contemporary humanistic enquiry? Using Bruno Latour’s anthropological observations of the scientific practices of biologists in their laboratory as a starting point, we will consider the concept of libraries as the laboratories of the humanities. Extending this concept further, we will consider, “what is a library lab?” by examining the activities of library labs internationally. Finally, we will introduce the emerging Digital Research Lab at the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) as part of a long-term collaboration with the Ghent Centre for Digital Humanities (GhentCDH). Using “KBR Labs” as a case study, we will consider the role that library labs could play as experimental incubators for digital humanities research.
From Catalogue 2.0 to the digital humanities: exploring the future of librari...Sally Chambers
This document discusses the evolving role of libraries and librarians in supporting digital scholarship and the digital humanities. It describes how traditional cataloguing tools like MARC are changing to incorporate new metadata standards and linked data. Research libraries' engagement with research infrastructures has been low but is increasing as opportunities arise in areas like research data management, digital repositories, and scholarly communication. The document argues libraries have important roles to play in discovery, data management, and as embedded partners supporting digital humanities researchers and their evolving needs. Collaboration between libraries and digital humanities centers is highlighted as a way to advance both fields.
This document discusses virtual research environments (VREs) in the digital humanities field. It provides examples of several existing VREs, including TextGrid (Germany), TAPoR (Canada), NINES (US/UK), DARIAH (EU-wide), and a VRE for European Holocaust research. It explains that VREs aim to provide researchers with collaborative tools and interfaces to organize, analyze, and share digital research materials online. However, developing VREs for the humanities poses challenges around establishing common standards, balancing diversity of research with coordination needs, and ensuring new technologies support rather than hinder existing humanistic methods.

In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

Editor's Notes
Producing an XML manifest for each document which is listing avaliable ressources (one or several digitals docs, EAD record, Mandragore descirptions, links to partner institutions)
Each data producer is issuing its own manifest, linked to the unique ID created by the library hosting the digital surrogate. Partners can choose (or not) to mention other manifests in their owns
The manifest is also indentifying precisely the image or part of image from which an annotation/editing has been made, so the final user can go back to the original image.
This datamodel was originally suggested by libraries which are regurlarly involved in new collaborative projects with very low standardization regarding the exchange of digital images.
IIIF API is basically a syntax that allows a distant image client (topped with a viewer) to send parameters to an image server and get the right images at the right resolution.
A compatible viewer has been developped by Stanford : Mirador. http://dmstech.github.io/mirador/demo/
Implemented at Biblissima: http://demos.biblissima-condorcet.fr/mirador/
