• RCS is present everywhere in Rocks, clay, sand in places like beaches and playgrounds, etc.
• Activities such as abrasive sand blasting, cutting, sawing, grinding , drilling operations release huge amounts of RCS into the surroundings.
• About 2.3 million people in the US are exposed to silica at workplace.
• Mining industry produces huge quantities of RCS which take a long time to settle down. Workers are especially exposed to RCS during mining operations.

19. CLOSING THOUGHTS
•Higher precedence of pulmonary diseases will continue to be a tax on public health and legal
resources and may result in increased medical costs and rising medical trends (insurance
costs) for both the private and public sector if not addressed comprehensively.
•Adoption of ISO 23875 with Amendment 1 addresses overexposure in environmentally
controlled operator enclosures. This is a comprehensive solution which addresses the
manufacture, retrofit, validation testing, ongoing performance, maintenance, and re-
certification process.
•The standard aligns with industry best practice and creates an opportunity for regulatory
enforcement of an industry developed consensus standard.

Mr Jeffrey L. Moredock
Mr. Moredock is the Executive Vice President for Sy-
Klone International. He serves as ISO TC-82 Mining -
Convenor Working Group 9- Operator Enclosures. Jeff
serves as International Project lead for ISO 23875 Mining
- Operator enclosures - Air quality control systems and air
quality performance testing and ISO/AWI 21208 –
Operational integration of gas filtration. Mr. Moredock
founded the International Society of Environmental
Enclosure Engineers (ISEEE) in 2012, an international
not-for-profit, focused on operator enclosure air quality.
Mr. Moredock authored a course in Advanced Cab
Theory, which he teaches. Mr. Moredock is the principal
contract researcher for the NIOSH Smart Cab project.

Mr Biswajit Dutta
Mr. Biswajit Dutta is an entrepreneur presently managing
his family owned manufacturing business M/s Eastman
and founded M/s EquipTech Services LLP catering the
core sectors like Mining, Energy, Railway and Defence.
He worked in Defence sector for BEML Ltd. Mr Dutta has
also worked closely with leading corporates like CIL,
NTPC, Thiess, L&T, various private MDOs and medium

Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from

Mr. Ankit Chatterjee has completed his Bachelor of
Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Indian
Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST)
