This document summarizes a lean process engineering project at Hawker Beechcraft's aircraft completion facility in Little Rock, AR. The project aimed to transform supply chain and production processes to improve throughput, reduce costs, and implement a world-class operation. Specifically, the project focused on overhauling the paint shop, which was experiencing low morale, uncontrolled material usage, incomplete specifications, and other issues. Through applying lean principles like continuous improvement, supplier participation, eliminating waste, and implementing DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control), the project regained employee morale, projected $993,600 in cost savings, and established performance tracking and process improvement initiatives.
