CONCEPT BLOG
SUBGENRE
My subgenre is Psychological/Paranormal. I wanted to play
on the idea of the ‘fear of the unknown’, superstition and evil
forces.
It will have a disturbed human psyche which would focus
around possession, taking control and dark forces ect. It is
will seem very supernatural.
(Baseline is that there was a girl who had died in that
house that they are moving in to. (was 17) just around
the same age of the new girl moving in, Katy, who
happens to also be 17. The supernatural force/person is
trying to take over the girl’s body and possess it as her
own. She is trying to take Katy’s soul and life and make
it her own. )
Target Audience
My target audience is aimed towards teenagers
mostly of the ages between 15 onwards as they are
the main group of people who would like to be thrilled
by this sort of genre.
Inspiration
Firstly, I had taken the ‘possessive’ element from the film
Exorcist.
I had secondly taken the ‘gore’ from the film unfriended
(only a small amount) bloody foot prints - for example
Thirdly, I had taken the ‘mysterious haunted house’ from
the awakening
Fourthly, I had taken the jump-scares and creepy music
from Insidious 3.
And lastly had taken the ‘vulnerable girl - victim’
(protagonist) from scream.
Title - Possession
I had named my film ‘possession’. My title reflects my
movie as the protagonist gets possessed. This specifically
reflects my supernatural genre.
Antagonist and Protagonist
My protagonist is the stereotypical vulnerable 17 year old
woman/young girl (victim).
My antagonist is of the exact same age, (17 year old girl
ghost) who is trying to possess the victims body and make
it her own.
Location
I am going to establish my location in the new house the
daughter and father move into. The new house was
obviously where the 17 year old ghost had been killed, as so
this is where most of the supernatural happenings occur.
5 Key Scenes
1. Moving in.
2. Showing her take pills – knowing she has a condition.
3. Hearing noises/looking around the house
4. Talking to her father about it but knowing she has a condition, he doesn’t
believe her.
5. Showing the possessed girl trying to take over her Katy’s body.
