This document provides details for the planning and pre-production of a short film, including: 1) Contact information and availability for key personnel such as actors, director of photography, and director. 2) A production schedule outlining the planned shooting days in April and noting which actors are unavailable on certain dates. 3) Lists of props, equipment, costumes, and locations needed for the shoot. Risk assessments are also included for some locations. 4) Examples of communications and scheduling with actors, as well as storyboards and shot lists for certain scenes.

These are the people who will be involved in the production, I'veincluded all their necessary details. Some of people I haveinvolved I may or
may not need, they're happy to help, I will contact them on a case by case basis. The days of availability are very importantas these dates will

Most of the equipment I have and will be using, shall be brought to every shoot. I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Most of the time I have make informed
decisions if I'll need to use such equipment when looking at my storyboards and shot list.

10. Music
Music is an important part of any film, I feel for short films especially it's hard
to get it right as you're mainly reduced to royalty free rubbish which you hear
in every student short, or you use already professionally composed music
which will copyright strike your film and remind everyone how much better
The Dark Knight is, to your film. I will avoid both. Hans Zimmer won't be listed
as composer nor will bensound get a mention. For the actual music used in the
film I want to collaborate with a composer, a music enthusiast. I have reached
out to a friend who would love to help out on the score. I explained to him the
themes and style of the film, this vision I hold for it. I also sent him the
screenplay and a playlist with inspirations for the score. I know I want a main
theme which is piano based then a more suspenseful, build-up piece that
explodes into craziness (After Hours).
Although a piece of music I know I will use is a song, Dream a little Dream of
me by The Mamas and Papas. The song will play in the credits. I've always liked
the idea of a cheerful song playing in the credits of a film that is thrilling – Ari
Aster does this masterfully in both Hereditary and Midsommar. I also feel the
song will help the audience understand that most of the film is dreamlike.
I also made a playlist that contains music that makes me think of the film and
that hepls me to get into the mood. During the early stages of writing the
treatment and screenplay I would listen to Stalker and Aguirre, the Wrath of
God soundtrack as I would feel as if I was being hypnotised and slowly sent into
a sleep I couldn't get out of.

11. Music
Finally,I made playlistsfor the characters. The music in these playlists,I feel, help me understandthe character more. I
sent the playliststo the actors, to hopefullyget them more intocharacter. As I've discussed before, the slow, dreary,
hypnoticmusic perfectly puts you in the mind of an insomniac and Jospeh. With Jolene, since she is an ex-dancer I felt
her music would be the music she would dance to most, that's when she was happy – of course, the whole state of mind
of her in the film is that she's not happy, she's in a bad place therefore to look back on the precious memories she wants
back so much would be naturalfor her.

12. Colour
As for the coloursused in the film – yellow and blue are the most importantand meaningful. They both represent
Jospeh and Jolene. Part of the films story is about these two characters. There is a constantlinkagebetween the
two, even from their names – JOseph, JOlene. Yellow is Jolene's colour. It is there to represent the sudden warm
emotion of fallingin love. As a beautifulwoman walks down the street, to see her and to love her the warm glow
of yellow would swell and drip from her. The placement of this colouris very deliberate.It will feature on her
umbrella which is a very importantobject in the film, that helps tell the story. The key, another importantobject,
will be golden, a shade of yellow– the gold will be dark, this showing Jolene'sinvolvement with this object is
negativeand a dark turn for her as a character. To further the connectionof the two, Joseph's colour is a blue (as
yellow and blue complement each other on the colourwheel) althoughother coloursJospeh will represent are
purple, dark blues and black. These colours will show his insomnia. Black for night and so on. Most of these colours
will feature in the opening scene, where I can put them in lighting as the scene will take place at night.

13. Sunday April 3rd – Day 1 Shoot
For the shoot I prepared various documents I will be using on the
day to be as organised as possible. Call sheet (emailed to all cast
and crew) - it was brief and unfinished, that's where my timing
production schedule came in. I am sticking to this schedule
religiously. Then helpful lists of props, equipment and costumes
so I don't forget anything on the day.

Scene 1 of the day. All shots stationary. Still. Quiet and moody. All MFS or FS.
Scene 2 of the day. Tracking. MFS. Thosethreeparticular shots I'vehad in mind, I thought would be usefulto have
as a visualreferenceon the day of shoot.
I haven't storyboarded for any other shots or scenes as I feel the shotlist will sufficeand mostof the other shots
don't need any dynamic planning. I'vetested one of these shots while I was getting to grips with the stabiliser.

19. Sunday April 3rd – Day 1 Shoot
Locations

place on a boat. This is where the boats are on the day of
shoot. I have included the risk assessment forthe self drive
boats, below. I have also created my own personal risk
assessment for health and safety as I am brining people
onto this boat, it is my responsibility to keep people safe.

get sorted. I will call the phone number
provided. All instructions will be read by
myself and I will listen to everything the
boat staff have to tell me.

I will also be shooting a few shots at this area near the river. The actor will
only require to stand still near the water. Therefore, the risk of falling is
minimised. He will be stood at least a metre or so away from the edge.

20. Sunday April 3rd – Day 1 Shoot
Locations
The location that we will be spending mostof our time in during the shootwill be the racecourse.
There are a total of 4 scenes that take place in various locations at the racecourse. I'vescheduled
them according to actor availability; therefore, weshoot the scene Oscar is in firstas he has to
leave first. Then the scenethat will be on the balcony due to sunlight. Then the other scenes that
take place with no windows, thereforethelight or lack thereof, will not be a problem and I can keep
continuity within the film.
I havea made a risk assessmentfor theracecourse, detailing risks that could happen judging by the
scriptand what action entails.

21. Updated Production Schedule
I have updated the productionschedule as I've been told
Luke can't make the 15th which I originallyplannedto
shoot on, to work with Courtne's availability.Thiswill
cause minor changes to the shooting schedule. I have
also mapped out when I will begin post-production,
which will start practicallyas soon as I finish shooting on
3rd April. Unlike waiting until the end to begin, I will start
throughout the productionto save time and if I
encounterany problems, I may havethe opportunityto
reshoot it while I have the actors. I must also make time
to make the trailer and poster too.

Again, I choseto make minimal storyboards as I feelthe shot list will
suffice. I'veshotlist every shot I know I wantto get it, in the order we
will shoot it on the day. I'llonly storyboard if the shot itself needs
visualising better.
This particular storyboard is when I want the camera to lose the
character and focus on something else, then find the character again
– in the same shot. Something I looked into when researching Fellini's
8½ - I may expand this by changing something during the shot, such
as adding someone in who wasn't there before.

26. Wednesday April 13th – Day 2 Shoot
These are the various locations I will be using to shoot. I begin the day at the racecourse, Navesmire. Then continue into York to shoot the chase scene. This will be another dangerous and
potentially hazardous shoot as the actors are required to run on cobbles and near crowds of people. I have chosen alleyways as the main locations as less people will be walking down
them so I won't interfere with the public and it will keep the actors safe. I also chose the alleys to make the city seem like a maze. I want the streets of the city to be a character. This comes
from a real thing I find about York, the city feels like a maze and that's what I will show during this chase.

27. Wednesday April 13th – Day 2 Shoot
This is the main alleyway I will be using for the key scene. I took pictures of both entrances and exits
so I can remember where to find it.

28. Thursday April 14th – Day 3 Shoot
The following day is when Courtney is available,so will be shooting all of
her required scenes in the streets. We also haveto shoot 2 scenes which
didn't get shot last time we were at the racecourse (due to actor
availability)luckily,I was able to get that locationback to shoot those
scenes. The locationsused and the risks they containare nothing new,
so I have not includeda risk assessment for this day.

35. Monday April 18th – Day 4 Shoot
Locations
For the purposes of ease,
time reduction and fuel costs
I have put up the actors and
myself in a holiday cottage
my mum runs. It will be the
central hub and base for the
next two days. At the
beginning of the day I will
drop off all props and
equipment. Once everyone
arrives we will use the house
to shoot a few short scenes.
Later on, after the night shoot
(estimated wrap time –
12am) we will go back to the
cottage to rest, for us to then
wake in the morning to drive
out to the beach for the final
shooting scene.

36. Tuesday April 19th – Day 5 Shoot
Since this shootday is taking place directly after Monday
18th – everyonewill already be in Helmsley with the
equipment ready to go. We will only be shooting 4 – 5 shots
at most, at the final location of the beach.
Decided to shoot at Cayton Bay as it's a quiet beach and
nearestto my house.
I do havea rough plan in my head of the timings – set off at
10 – get there for 11. Lunch at 12ish – get back home 1ish.
Two very particular shot ideas I have for the day, I felt best needed planning
visually.

37. Credits
The credits of a film are often overlooked in the process of making said film. Although, for this film I
havea clear idea of what I wantto do with them. -- opening credits throughoutthe film up until the
end. This is done as audiences havebeen trained to think when opening credits appear while a
scene is playing out, this is the opening scene/sequence and once wesee 'directed by...'Then we
know the film has actually begun. My opening credits will appear throughoutthe film to trick the
pacing of the film, it should feel faster and make the point that the film truly begins at the end – as
it has properly begun in your head as you process whatyou'vejustwatched.
There's a certain formand structureto the credits which I will need to fresh my memory on. For the
opening credits actor's names come firston their own. For the practical and technical credits you
could put their job title in smaller writing below their name. I want my credits to specify the
location used and will havea special thanks section. There is also a part stated how the film is based
off fiction and cannot be related to anything fromreal life which I might useas well.
