• Preposition is a word that connects nouns/pronouns or phrases to
other words in a sentence.
• Example: The marker is on my hand.
I am in the room.
• Pre + position = Preposition
(Place) (before)
• Prepositions usually describe the position of something, the time
when something happens and the way in which something is
done.
3. PREPOSITION
• Example: The book is on the table. (Position)
I am coming in January. (Time)
The garden is in front of the mall. (Position)
Sit down for a while . (Movement)
4. TYPES OF PREPOSITIONS
1. Preposition of Time:
in, an, at, ago, before, since, for, by, to, within, during, after, etc.
• Example:
• He left the house a hour ago.
• I have been teaching since 12 o’clock.
• I have been teaching for 5 hours.
• It’s quarter to five.
• Come back by five o’clock.
