COURSE DESCRIPTION
UTS recognises that industry is increasingly demanding graduates that are work ready. We would like to offer you
the opportunity to develop the practical skills, confidence and competence necessary for the workplace - by
completing the BSB51107 Diploma of Management, a nationally recognised qualification.
The BSB51107 Diploma of Management will be issued by accessUTS Pty Ltd which is a Registered Training
Organisation (RTO Code 90811) owned and operated by the University of Technology Sydney.
This program will provide a variety of specific lectures from specialist career experts that will give an insight into
what to expect in the Australian workplace and how best to be prepared. You will engage with industry
professionals to understand their expectations and build sustainable working relationships useful in a global
workplace. You will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to manage different business scenarios effectively.
Through the duration of the program, you will be involved in simulation based learning and assessment. After
successful assessment for each component, you will be awarded a BSB51107 Diploma of Management. If you do
not complete the assessment requirements you will get a Certificate of Attendance only.

COMPONENT 1
PART 1: LEARNING MODULES
This program is designed to provide you with the core leadership competencies required by contemporary managers. This
nationally recognised qualification provides the essential skills and knowledge required by individuals to perform effectively
as a manager in increasingly competitive and fast changing times.
This Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualification comprises a total of 8 modules of competency:
PART 2: SIMULATION AND ASSESSMENT
Within each of the eight modules, there will be a half day dedicated to Simulation and Assessment. Assessments will vary in
accordance with each module. To attain the Diploma of Management, each simulation session and assessment must be
completed successfully.
Simulation sessions have been created to provide mock situations, where you will be expected to react and deal with the
circumstances appropriately. Separate written assessment tasks will be allocated to participants for every module. Tasks will
vary according to the competencies that each module requires. It will be your responsibility to complete and submit each task
as specified by the lecturer.

Specialist career enhancement sessions will be provided
by Malcolm McKenzie, former Manager of the UTS
Careers Service. Malcolm provides detailed lectures
specific to career development and the transition from
University to the workplace. These lectures will provide
essential information assuring a confident move to the
workplace.
MALCOLM McKENZIE
Malcolm McKenzie has over 30 years’ experience working
in the areas of career education and career development
with secondary and tertiary students. He has had a
number of journal articles published and co-authored
three books on career development. Until recently a
Director of Graduate Careers Australia, Australia’s peak
body in promoting and fostering employment and career
opportunities for graduates from higher education
institutions.
You will be given a half day guided tour of the following offices, where you will engage and be shown the processes of their extensive operations:
The two functions will introduce you to a range of industry specific professionals, executives, UTS networking affiliates and advisory
experts. These Functions provide a platform for you to engage with and for you to build long-term relationships with professionals
from your chosen path of study.
At the conclusion of this program, you will receive individual feedback on their professional development and attainment milestones
for completion of the program. This session will also be used to review and take account of what needs to be completed, in an
agreed timeframe, to qualify for a “Diploma of Management”

SYDNEY INSTITUTE OF MARINE SCIENCE (SIMS)*
SIMS conducts multidisciplinary marine research across five
core research themes - Urbanisation, Biodiversity, Climate
Change, Ocean Resources, and Marine Management. SIMS is
also the operator of the NSW node of the Australian
Government’s Integrated Marine Observing System – IMOS.
SIMS plays a vital role in producing the next generation of
marine researchers and managers by facilitating the research
of PhD students and post-doctoral fellows, and through
undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the
Institute. Post graduate opportunities offered include the
SIMS Master of Marine Science and Management and SIMS
Doctoral Fellowships which are awarded annually.

We would like to offer you the opportunity to develop the practical skills, confidence and competence necessary for the workplace - by completing the BSB51107 Diploma of Management, a nationally recognised qualification. The BSB51107 Diploma of Management will be issued by accessUTS Pty Ltd which is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Code 90811) owned and operated by the University of Technology Sydney. This program will provide a variety of specific lectures from specialist career experts that will give an insight into what to expect in the Australian workplace and how best to be prepared. You will engage with industry professionals to understand their expectations and build sustainable working relationships useful in a global workplace. You will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to manage different business scenarios effectively. Through the duration of the program, you will be involved in simulation based learning and assessment. After successful assessment for each component, you will be awarded a BSB51107 Diploma of Management. If you do not complete the assessment requirements you will get a Certificate of Attendance only. LEARNING MODULES SIMULATION AND ASSESSMENT DIPLOMA OF MANAGEMENT COMPONENT 1 PART 1: LEARNING MODULES This program is designed to provide you with the core leadership competencies required by contemporary managers. This nationally recognised qualification provides the essential skills and knowledge required by individuals to perform effectively as a manager in increasingly competitive and fast changing times. This Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualification comprises a total of 8 modules of competency: PART 2: SIMULATION AND ASSESSMENT Within each of the eight modules, there will be a half day dedicated to Simulation and Assessment. Assessments will vary in accordance with each module. To attain the Diploma of Management, each simulation session and assessment must be completed successfully. Simulation sessions have been created to provide mock situations, where you will be expected to react and deal with the circumstances appropriately. Separate written assessment tasks will be allocated to participants for every module. Tasks will vary according to the competencies that each module requires. It will be your responsibility to complete and submit each task as specified by the lecturer. Malcolm provides detailed lectures specific to career development and the transition from University to the workplace. These lectures will provide essential information assuring a confident move to the workplace. MALCOLM McKENZIE Malcolm McKenzie has over 30 years’ experience working in the areas of career education and career development with secondary and tertiary students. He has had a number of journal articles published and co-authored three books on career development. Until recently a Director of Graduate Careers Australia, Australia’s peak body in promoting and fostering employment and career opportunities for graduates from higher education institutions. You will be given a half day guided tour of the following offices, where you will engage and be shown the processes of their extensive operations: The two functions will introduce you to a range of industry specific professionals, executives, UTS networking affiliates and advisory experts. These Functions provide a platform for you to engage with and for you to build long-term relationships with professionals from your chosen path of study. At the conclusion of this program, you will receive individual feedback on their professional development and attainment milestones for completion of the program.
