Formerly known as the San Diego Marathon, the
Carlsbad Marathon stands out as one of the oldest
marathons on the West Coast of the United States.
The name change took place after the 2004 event,
when the city of Carlsbad became the new host for
the event.

3.  The next Carlsbad Marathon will take place
on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Festivities will
begin on the Friday prior to the race, with a
Health & Lifestyle Expo being held from noon
to 6:00 pm on Friday and 10:00 am to 5:00
pm on Saturday. Saturday will also include
Kids Mile Races and the Kids Marathon Mile
at LEGOLAND. The Carlsbad Marathon itself
will begin at the Shoppes in Carlsbad at 6:15
am on Sunday, while the half-marathon event
will start at 7:45 am.
