The USS Chancellorsville, a guided-missile cruiser, departed from San Diego to travel to its new homeport in Yokosuka, Japan. In Yokosuka, the Chancellorsville will reunite with the Forward Deployed Naval Forces and provide enhanced anti-air warfare capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region. The Chancellorsville was the first guided-missile cruiser to undergo an Aegis Baseline 9 upgrade, which modernized the ship with improved command and control systems as well as increased firepower capabilities.

2. Introduction
• Captain David Schnell leverages extensive leadership
experience to serve as the vice president of operations
for the Electronic Tolling Collection division of Xerox’s
Americas Commercial and State Government
Transportation Group (ACGST). Before assuming his
current role, Captain David Schnell commanded two
military warships as an officer in the US Navy, and he
remains connected to the Navy as a member of the US
Naval Institute (USNI).
The USNI recently issued a press release to announce
that the USS Chancellorsville (CG-62), a guided-missile
cruiser, left San Diego to journey to its latest homeport
in Yokosuka, Japan.

3. USS Chancellorsville
• There, the Chancellorsville will reunite with the Forward
Deployed Naval Forces and provide enhanced anti-air
warfare capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
The USNI notes that Chancellorsville was the first
guided-missile cruiser to undergo an Aegis Baseline 9
upgrade, with modernization work performed in 2012
that was followed by comprehensive testing in 2013 and
2014. According to the USNI, the upgrade included
implementation of the Navy Integrated Fire Control-
Counter Air (NIFC-CA) system for improved command
and control, as well as increased fire power by way of the
Standard Missile-6 surface to air missile.
