How to Reduce Your Public Speaking Anxiety
Anxiety will interfere with your ability to be comfortable, confidence and charismatic, and often times it comes from our threat of perceive social rejection. We are fearful that if someone knows us that they will reject us. Furthermore, we donât want another to think of us as stupid. This self-defeating thinking get is our way and shows up in the body.   The following is a list to help you think and reduce your anxiety so you can enjoy presenting.
1. Re-frame the experience. Do NOT dwell in the uncertainty, but instead focus your mind on the phrase âItâs just a conversation.â Whether itâs a conversation of one-on-one or one-to-many, itâs still simply a conversation. Think that way.
2. You believe you more than anyone else in the world; therefore you must control the brain messages (thoughts) that are self-defeating. You are not an idiot, You are in fact a beautiful wonderful person. Be sure to tell yourself that you are worthy and competent.
3. Be careful of the âimposter syndrome.â The thoughts say tell you that you donât have anything of value to offer â that you do not belong in this situation. By being in the situation, you have something to offer.
4. Manage your body. When our threat response is activated, our biology is to funnel energy to prepare us to fight or flight. Therefore energy goes out of our brains and into our arms and legs. This is biology. To quiet the threat response, breathe deep and tell yourself that you are safe, that you are prepared, that you are worthy, and that the audience is for you. Additionally, know that the threat response is often at its height at the beginning of the talk; therefore, plan an audience activity in the beginning to give yourself a moments break, or perhaps take a sip of water. Just a little moment will help.
5. Prepare more information that you need. In the moment of execution, you will forget to say some information and other information. No worries. Nobody but you knows of your change. Enjoy it. Donât be thrown-off by the change. Go with the flow.
6. Practice. Practice. Practice. Your brain has difficulty distinguishing imagination and reality. Use this strategy to make the uncertain certain. It will reduce your anxiety.
7. When you practice, spend more time on the introduction. Polish it to perfection and youâll feel ...
Life is not always easy, surely when we come to find ourselves at the lowest; it is then that we need self-confidence and self-esteem. Since circumstances, situations or problems in our existence arise, knocking us off balance with a feeling of disarray, sometime in panic, and leaving us wounded, at times to the core.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
Â

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasnât one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as âdistorted thinkingâ.

How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Â
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying itâs good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation thatâs least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state theyâre comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

PremierConnect Inc.
PremierConnect Inc., was established in January 2016. PremierConnect Inc., strives to provide the highest quality BDC services for the luxury
automotive industry. We are a call center located in Fulton, MD. Our main goal is to fulfill the auto industry's growing need for an independent
thirdâpart to execute customer satisfaction surveys. A company that could dedicate time to successfully contact customers and provide auto dealers
valuable customer feedback and information. I spoke with my boss about writing this paper and needing to find out more information about our
company. He explained to me that we are a C Corporation. A c corporation is "subject to federal income tax based on its taxable income for the year,
keeping in mind that a host of special tax credits (offsets) could reduce or even eliminate the amount of income tax a corporation has to pay."...show

With a c corporation you have the potential to build your business to such a level that it can attract funding by becoming a public company traded on a
national exchange. Which allows the company to have no restrictions on ownership, allowing them to unlimited growth potential. Another advantage of
owning a c corporation is that stock proprietorship is divorced from corporate administration. An investor is entitled to economic benefits based upon
number and types of dividends owned, but the investor does not have the right to manage the day to day business of the

2. Examples Of A Guiding Statement
A guiding statement that I live by would be "The pain that you have been feeling, cannot compare to the joy that is coming". I live by this guiding
statement because it helps me stay positive about my life. There has been times when I was depressed and felt like nothing would ever get better for
me. I was constantly in an awful mood with a negative mind set about everything. Now whenever I am going through something I try to be optimistic
about the situation because I know that everything will work out and get better. Although sometimes it is hard to stay buoyant about certain situations
considering the fact that the future is unpredictable, dreadful things are going to happen anytime and anywhere, I cannot let that keep me unhappy. I

3. Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the preâwriting step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that preâwriting is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the preâwriting that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

6. I Believe In Hope
This I believe. Hope can bring people together, and hope can tear people apart. Most importantly hope gives us a reason to go on. Recently, my
grandpa went through a sickness called encephalitis. He was supposed to die, and everyone knew it. The doctors gave him a few weeks to live at
most, and we prepared for it. But in the back of all of our minds was that little voice saying "What if?'. What If he does make it? It's possible, isn't
it? But none of us wanted to be disappointed, so for the most part, it stayed in the back of our minds. So when he made a recovery that not even the
doctors saw coming, that voice in the back of my head was now saying to me "I told you so!". I believe in hope. Hope is what kept us going, kept us
praying and believing, that something good will happen. Something that just might give us a reason to keep pushing on through life. In this instance,
hope brought my family together, and gave us all something in common so that we could believe, and not give up. I believe in hope. In reality, nobody
ever wants to give up on anything. The only things that...show more content...
Without it, life would simply be a grind. An endless struggle with nothing to work for, to look forward to. My life has been changed because of
hope, and I believe many other peoples have. Everyone has it, we're all striving for the same thing, the hope that we believe in. The dictionary
definition for hope is "a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen." Or "a feeling of trust." A feeling of trust. Something that
builds us, and who we are, Is trust. It tells us who we associate with, who we talk to, what groups we belong to, and most importantly, what we
choose to believe. Hope shapes our lives without us even knowing it. Our definition of hope explains who we are, and what we will become. We
need it to survive, thrive, and shape our lives to become the people that we want to be, and change the world around us. And that is why I believe in

there has always been the question of whether the suffering makes us stronger as a person and leads to success, or damages us and we never truly
recover. It is true, we are all different, stigmas affect us in various ways and can either aid us or hinder us; however, one thing that unites us is our
courage, our belief, and our will, the will that will either make us or break us. Strength, it can be more than brute force, it is more than brute force, it
is also courage and determination; when those are extinguished, I fear strength has died and in its place is spawned a type of pestilence, a strength
known as pessimistic strength, a cavern in which all of the defeated gather and dwell on their failures. Being pessimistic is the effortless way out, it is
the path that is lined without light and without success; being optimistic is the stronger way out, it is the path that is lined without darkness and without
fear of failing; optimism often times brings with it failure, but those who are strong know that failure is a necessary part of success, those who are
strong know that success requires never giving in to pessimism, and they know, above all, that success comes because failure has first graced them and
they never gave up, no matter what the circumstance.
There have been many who have suffered and found success, one such example is

LINE CONCERNING REUNIFICATION THERAPY 1.On March 10, 2017, this Court instructed both parties to enter a line within 30 days to inform

therapy. 7.The Defendant has attempted several times attempted to contact the Plaintiff concerning reunification therapy and the status of his daughter.
The Plaintiff has refused to return any of his phone calls and has refused to inform him about anything concerning his daughter. 8.This Court's order

Life is full of ups and downs and everyone has faced some obstacles before, but the way they tackle them makes them who they are today. No matter
how harsh life is, there is always hope, hope that make us see the light at the end of the dark tunnel. Hope is the electricity that helps us light up our
homes, but only if we believe that it has the power to do so,that means that the amount of electricity we decide to put in our homes depends on how
bright we want our bulbs to light up,but remember that bulbs can be spoiled by too much electricity. That's why I believe that hope is very important in
one's life,if used in the right amount it could turn our lives around, but if we overdose it,it ruins our lives. Some people might ask:If hope could

Hi Professor Wolbransky, I do beleive Hope is a necessary force. I personality believe that individuals should believe in "hope" so they can have a
change. If someone that is suffering from a substance abuse and does not have hope they will not be able to leave the addiction because their is no
hope. If somoene does not beleive in hope they can look at hope as a change for themselves. Another force that might be consider instead of hope can
be change. Many individuals might not have a belief so change might be another force for effective group counseling.

11. The Hope Scale
The Hope Scale is a modest tool that if used, has the potential to save an individual's life. Doctors state that "Indeed, highly hopeless men were at more
than threeâfold increased risk of death... findings indicate that hopelessness is a strong predictor of adverse health outcomes, independent of
depression and traditional risk factors. (Everson, S.A., Goldberg, D.E., Kaplan, G.A., Cohen R.D., Pukkala, E., Tuomilehto J., & Salonen J.T., 1996)
If we are going to have an impact on people's lives the Hope Scale, amongst other tools, should be routinely revisited for three reasons: Introspection,
Quantification and Development. An important first step for anyone who desires to grow is introspection; examining yourself to establish a starting
point in order to have the proper perspective in developing desired goal. Pertaining to hope, discovering what obstacles that stunt your hope in the midst
of a situation. Ultimately, given any situation, responding with an attitude that above all portrays hope. When selfâexamining I believe that it is
important to use an array of tools, the Hope Scale along with other tools such as the MeyersâBriggs personality test, 5 Love Languages (Chapman,
2014) and learning style tests should be compiled into an overall assessment....show more content...
My first thoughts were: Can I improve my Hope and/ or am I susceptible to suicide or health complications? A starting point has been established
and for some a little or a lot more Hope in their life is a desired goal. I believe another aspect of hope and certainly in the realm of quantification, is
discovering or solidifying the source of your hope. More importantly is the source of your hope powerful enough to elevate you to and sustain you at
your desired level of hope. For some hope comes from having a foundation of faith; for others they place their hope in people, society or

12. For me, learning a language is a complicated process. It is different from learning other subjects. It involves a lot of practices and follow up. When I
talk about my personal experience, I would say that I have a rich experience in learning English as a second language. English was taught to me for
ten years starting from grade seven till graduation from university. After graduation, I felt that I should improve my language skills. Therefore, I did a
lot of efforts personally to increase my fluency. Until now I still learn the language. Indeed, learning a language takes a lifetime.
I started learning English as a second language when I was in first intermediate. I still remember my first classes and my first teachers. I remember that
my teachers changed frequently in the first year but all of them have much in common. All of them used grammar translation method. They used to
write bilingual lists of words on board, then we, as students, were asked to copy these lists and memorize them by heart. All teaching concentrated on
reading and writing skills, but there were no activities concentrating on speaking or listening. In addition, grammar rules were taught in that stage of
learning the language as mathematics equations, and we were asked to memorize the rules as we...show more content...

English language entails high sense of using the appropriate word for describing or narrating something. To my mind, I have not reached this point

It's hard to believe that it's already time for Midterms in my English 101 class. The adventure has been a lot easier than I at first anticipated. In any

14. What is Hope?
What is hope? MerriamâWebster Dictionary gives the word multiple definitions from; to cherish a desire with anticipation, to expect with confidence,
or the feeling of wanting something to happen and thinking that could happen. To me hope has a very simple meaning as well as represents a very
simple thing that all humans are capable of. To me hope means and is desire. Regardless of whether it is seen as a noun, verb, or concept, that very
definition and understanding is universal throughout. Anyone and everyone is capable of desire, therefore no one can really be immune from
feeling hope. To say such would also mean that everyone is susceptible to despair, which is known and defined as "a state in which there is an absence
or loss of hope". However despite the very thin line that divides the two, we as a people choose to believe in hope, holding it at such high esteemed
standards. Personally I never believed in hope, as I saw it as a doubleâedged sword that society fell upon time and time again over the centuries.
However over the course of the semester as we explored tragedy after tragedy, as well as tried to grab an understanding of what is true evil and
suffering, we never failed to (especially towards the end of the semester) find the bright end at the end of the tunnel that represented hope. That in
particular stood out to me, and that's why I decided to further investigate the topic as well as consummate, backup, and solidify my belief and
understanding of the word

15. The best advice ever given

The Best Advice Ever Given In life there are many challenges that may either make or break a person. The journey to overcome these challenges
is often made easier by a handful of useful advice. This advice doesn't necessarily have to come from a much wiser person. It's the advice itself that
is labeled as being wise. Just because someone gives another person wise advice, it doesn't necessarily mean that the task at hand will immediately
be overcome. The receiver must use the advice willingly for it to be effective. Some of the best advice I have ever been given was to never burn
bridges. My father gave me this advice when I was a teenager. He found out the hard way that burning...show more content...
I also know that my father's advice would have been useless if I wouldn't have executed it and just ignored his words. Being so thankful for the power
of advice, I have promised myself to take any advice that is free and if I have overcome an obstacle someone else is struggling with, I will always offer
my fair share of advice. In my interview with Hope she told me the greatest advice she ever received came from her father. The advice was never to
dwell on things that would not benefit her. He gave her the advice because she would stress about friends who were one sided and just dragged her
down. In her life this helped her to drown out the negative and focus on the goals and the good things in her life. I can totally relate to this advice as
I've dealt with friends who were also negative and one sided. To move forward from negative people is a big step for anyone to make and will benefit
the person for the best. This is good advice for anyone to take in a similar situation. As I would give someone the advice I have learned, this is
advice I would take away and use to my advantage. In my second interview with Cassie I learned some very valuable things. Cassie told me the best
advice she ever received was no matter what happens, keep going, things might seem bad, but it's not over yet and hard work pays off given by a
family friend. Cassie says her family friend, Nikki, gave her the

English 111
Upon entering English 111 onâline class, I had not taken an English class onâline before. In the past I have taken several other basic classes. English
has always been a struggle for me, mainly writing and grammar. Neither, writing or grammar has come natural to me. The biggest challenge for me is
putting my thoughts into words.
Currently I am employed full time, and also hold a part time position along with being a wife, and mother of two children. By furthering my education, I
can improve our future. Some days I just can't find the time I need to get what I need completed. Coming back to school after almost a decade has
not been an easy task for me. However, I know once I get done, it will be completely worth it.
One assignment that I feel as though I put my all into would be the Definition essay, in my opinion is my best. I took my time and tried to focus on

I also now know that I need additional time to devote to this class. Where in other classes, I do not seem to struggle on assignments and clarification. I

though.
Pushing ahead, I hope that I can achieve my goals to become a nurse. I know that there will be more English classes in my future. I think I will
choose to take them in a classroom setting. I also will try to be more diligent in getting my assignments completed correctly the first time and on
time. This class has encouraged me to be more proficient at the Blackboard and logging in to read my updates more regularly. I hope that my next
English class doesn't rely on essays so much, just because it is not one of my strengths. English 111 was defiantly a learning experience for
