This study aimed to determine the ecology and biology of Stomathorinus cf polli, a species of Mormyridae fish found in the Masendula stream in Kisangani, DR Congo. Over 12 months, 260 specimens of Mormyridae were collected from a single site using nets and amplifiers. The fish were weighed, measured, and their diets and reproduction analyzed. The results provide preliminary data on the biology of Stomathorinus cf polli, which is an appreciated food source for local communities but about which little was previously known.

A 61 years old albino donor cornea shows an association of a triple corneal pathologies, keratoconus, oculocutaneous albinism and neovascularisation. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed severe signs of keratoconus, corneal vascularisation and the presence of central leukoma.Keratoconus and corneal vascularisation in albino patients is a unique association, however, the genetic basis of this combination is still unclear.
Percutaneous spine biopsy has widely replaced open biopsy during the last 50 years. Closed biopsy is more cost effective, less invasive, and has fewer complications than open procedures. A literature search was conducted in PubMed for percutaneous spine biopsy. The contributing factors to the success of the biopsy were identified by reviewing the articles and their references. These factors included location and type of lesion, needle system and use of different modalities of imaging as well as the physician’s expertise. Potential complications include pneumothorax, hematoma, nerve root injury, transient paresis, transient spinal anesthesia, meningitis, radiculopathy, and paraplegia. Overviews of the pre and post biopsy workup along with comprehensive description of the determinants of the biopsy outcome are discussed.
Surgical treatment is indicated for displaced and unstable distal radius fractures. Kapandji percutaneous pin fixation technique is widely practiced on account of its efficiency and relative reproducibility. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate no difference in terms of patients’ residual pain between Kapandji-pinning and closed reduction associated with cast immobilization using both intra-focal anesthesia in the treatment of unstable distal radius fractures. The secondary objective was to evaluate the surgical outcomes of Kapandji pinning using intra-focal anesthesia. This is a single-center prospective comparative study from January to June 2013. Patients were randomly assigned to Group 1 or Group 2. The first group underwent Kapandji-pinning of the fracture. The second group was treated with closed reduction and cast immobilization.

Fish biodiversity and their present conservation status 5 1-53-491Md. Monjurul Hasan
This study was conducted between January 2016 and December 2016 with a view to assessing the
biodiversity of fishes in the River Meghna and their conservation status both in Bangladesh and global
aspects. A total of 107 fish species belonging to 13 orders and 26 families were documented. Perciformes
was found to be the most dominant order consisting 32% of the total fish population. Cyprinidae was
found to be the richest family (16%). Twenty common groups were recorded in the studied areas.
Estuary-River was found to be the biggest habitat for the maximum number of fishes (43%). Twenty one
threatened fish species (20%) were recorded from the River Meghna in which 11 species (10.28%) were
found as Vulnerable (VU), 8 species (7.48%) as Endangered (EN) and 2 species (2%) as Critically
Endangered (CR). Steps should be taken to conserve threatened fish species of Meghna River from the
risk of extinction.

The present work is an attempt to describe the Scylla spp collected from Cochin backwaters, a South Indian estuary, for a period of two years from June 2010- to May 2012. Identification and description of Scylla spp. was carried out based on the conventional taxonomic tools viz., morphological characters including the description of the first and second male gonopods and the third maxillipeds; morphometry as well as the molecular methods viz., sequencing of CO1 gene and the amplification of ITS-1 region. The present study confirms the occurrence of two species of Scylla, from Cochin backwaters, namely Scylla serrata and Scylla olivacea. The study also rules out the existence of Scylla tranquebarica in Cochin backwaters. The smaller species being identified as S. Serrata is S. olivacea and the larger one being identified as S. tranquebarica is S. Serrata.
Puffer fish belonging to the family tetraodontidae are usually distributed in the shallow waters. During investigation in stations viz. Marina Park, Chidiyatapu and Burmanullah, around Andaman, five species from genus Arothron and two from Canthigaster have been recorded and were mostly found to prefer coral reefs and rock crevices, with the exception of Arothron immaculatus, which was found to be present in the open waters and it confined to sandy bottom substrate with patches of sea grasses around them. These fishes were found to be most diverse and abundant in Chidiyatapu with the Margelef’s Richness Index of 2.49, Shannon-Wiener index of 1.05 and Pielou’s evenness index of 0.96. Biometric analysis results demonstrate that they have shown an isometric growth. The individuals collected were mostly lying in the length group of 120-160 mm. Gut content analysis of A. Immaculatus reveals that the fish feed mainly on molluscs and sea urchin and the other food items were shrimps, crabs, sponges, micro algae, foraminiferans etc. gastro-somatic index, hepato-somatic index and gonado-somatic indices were also calculated to throw light upon the feeding behavior and reproductive maturity of the fishes. Most of the individuals were found to be in the developing stage of maturity.

The number of restaurants or restaurants that offer grilled fish or seafood products has shown people's interest in fish consumption. The current high level of public interest in consuming fish automatically brightens the fisheries sector from upstream to downstream. The purpose of this study was to identify the marketing distribution pattern of demersal fish in North Minahasa Regency and analyze the attitudes of end consumers towards their preferences for demersal fish in North Minahasa Regency. The basic method in this research is a case study and the primary data source comes from fishermen and collectors as fish marketers, who are involved in marketing channels as well as final consumers who use the product. Respondents who are determined are producers, namely fishermen who catch Demersal fish, collectors or suppliers and final consumers in culinary centers who choose processed demersal fish products. Methods Data collection was carried out by sampling, namely: Purposive sampling for the types of producer and collector respondents, Accidental sampling for final consumers who apply their preferences to processed Demersal fish products in culinary centers located in North Minahasa district. Collecting data through interviews and direct observation as well as filling out a list of questions guided by the researcher. Primary and secondary data types, for primary data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and descriptively quantitatively using data analysis techniques according to consumer attitude preferences. to the final consumer. The validity test was carried out on the snapper, chair, bobara, grouper, and escape variables, it was found that all the calculated r values were greater than r table, which means that all indicators in the questionnaire were declared valid with a moderately correlated to high category. The reliability test on snapper was 0.626, which means high reliability value, as well as for chariot fish the value was 0.669 , 0.721 passed and Goropa 0.600 which was categorized as sufficient for 5% and 1% error levels.

The availability of small indigenous species (SIS) of fish declined to a great extent over the years and many of them are rare or endangered due to death of rivers and baors were brought under aquaculture. Besides these, Many of SIS of fish were being increasingly used as trash fish for fish feed purpose. As an over populated country, demand of SIS of fish is increasing day by day. After 1990s almost all Oxbow Lakes have been gradually trying to bring under aquaculture through local community or Department of Fisheries. The most significant message of this study is that, some vulnerable and endangered SIS of fish are locally abundant both in fish landing center, baors and rivers. So they must be conserved for their bioavailability and nutrition throughout the country that would be most intelligent efforts in favor of global ichthyo-biodiversity conservation.

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of different feeds on growth and production of freshwater Mud Eel (Monopterus cuchia) in nine aquariums over a period of 90 days during June to August 2016. Three different feeds namely Feed A (live feed), Feed B (supplementary feed) and Feed C (probiotics) were applied to treatments I, II and III respectively. Three types of water used in aquarium. These are pond water, ground water and turbid water. Each of the tanks was stocked with nine fish that's total fish amount of 27. Significantly highest weight gain was obtained in pond water, treatment III, (16.39a ± 2.35). Treatment III yielded the highest (65.56a ±9.4 g/m 2 /year) production with the highest survival rate of fish. Water quality parameters like temperature, dissolved oxygen, P H , and alkalinity were optimum. On the basis of better growth and production, it is suggested that pond water condition with probiotics are suitable for the culture of M. cuchia in aquarium.
Polychaetes of Gulf of Mannar, South East Coast of Indiaijtsrd
Gulf of Mannar is a suitable environment for the study of Polychaetes with special reference to their systematics, spatial and temporal distribution. It has a number of islands and estuaries and a variety of environments such as, mangroves, coral reefs, pearl oyster beds, sea weed and sea grass beds. Hence, a study was conducted for 2 years by collecting samples from 21 stations covering all the ecologically important locations such as, 13 sea bottoms surrounding the islands, 4 estuaries, 3 intertidal regions, and 1 backwater using standard methods. A total of 49 species were identified, out of which 34 are found to be new records to the area. If we take this and the earlier reports in to consideration the total number comes to 144 species and 33 species up to genus level. Growth of freshwater mud eel (Monopterus cuchia) in different water condition...AbdullaAlAsif1
An experiment was conducted to study the effect of different feeds on growth and production of freshwater Mud Eel (Monopterus cuchia) in nine aquariums over a period of 90 days during June to August 2016. Three different feeds namely Feed A (live feed), Feed B (supplementary feed) and Feed C (probiotics) were applied to treatments I, II and III respectively. Three types of water used in aquarium. These are pond water, ground water and turbid water. Each of the tanks was stocked with nine fish that's total fish amount of 27. Significantly highest weight gain was obtained in pond water, treatment III, (16.39a ± 2.35). Treatment III yielded the highest (65.56a ±9.4 g/m 2 /year) production with the highest survival rate of fish. Water quality parameters like temperature, dissolved oxygen, P H , and alkalinity were optimum. On the basis of better growth and production, it is suggested that pond water condition with probiotics are suitable for the culture of M. cuchia in aquarium.
Polychaetes of Gulf of Mannar, South East Coast of Indiaijtsrd
Gulf of Mannar is a suitable environment for the study of Polychaetes with special reference to their systematics, spatial and temporal distribution. It has a number of islands and estuaries and a variety of environments such as, mangroves, coral reefs, pearl oyster beds, sea weed and sea grass beds. Hence, a study was conducted for 2 years by collecting samples from 21 stations covering all the ecologically important locations such as, 13 sea bottoms surrounding the islands, 4 estuaries, 3 intertidal regions, and 1 backwater using standard methods. A total of 49 species were identified, out of which 34 are found to be new records to the area. If we take this and the earlier reports in to consideration the total number comes to 144 species and 33 species up to genus level. This is going to be a new information on the distribution of Polychaetes in the Gulf of Mannar region. S. Lazarus | A. Renu | S. Introduction:
RNA interference (RNAi) or Post-Transcriptional Gene Silencing (PTGS) is an important biological process for modulating eukaryotic gene expression.
It is highly conserved process of posttranscriptional gene silencing by which double stranded RNA (dsRNA) causes sequence-specific degradation of mRNA sequences.
dsRNA-induced gene silencing (RNAi) is reported in a wide range of eukaryotes ranging from worms, insects, mammals and plants.
This process mediates resistance to both endogenous parasitic and exogenous pathogenic nucleic acids, and regulates the expression of protein-coding genes.
What are small ncRNAs?

Properties of small non-coding RNA:
Involved in silencing mRNA transcripts.
Called “small” because they are usually only about 21-24 nucleotides long.
Synthesized by first cutting up longer precursor sequences (like the 61nt one that Lee discovered).
Silence an mRNA by base pairing with some sequence on the mRNA.

In 1993 Rosalind Lee (Victor Ambros lab) was studying a non- coding gene in C. elegans, lin-4, that was involved in silencing of another gene, lin-14, at the appropriate time in the
development of the worm C. elegans.
Two small transcripts of lin-4 (22nt and 61nt) were found to be complementary to a sequence in the 3' UTR of lin-14.
Because lin-4 encoded no protein, she deduced that it must be these transcripts that are causing the silencing by RNA-RNA interactions.

MECHANISM OF RNAI:
First the double-stranded RNA teams up with a protein complex named Dicer, which cuts the long RNA into short pieces.
Then another protein complex called RISC (RNA-induced silencing complex) discards one of the two RNA strands.
The RISC-docked, single-stranded RNA then pairs with the homologous mRNA and destroys it.
THE RISC COMPLEX:
RISC is large(>500kD) RNA multi- protein Binding complex which triggers MRNA degradation in response to MRNA

Active component of RISC is Ago proteins( ENDONUCLEASE) which cleave target MRNA.

The return of a sample of near-surface atmosphere from Mars would facilitate answers to several first-order science questions surrounding the formation and evolution of the planet. One of the important aspects of terrestrial planet formation in general is the role that primary atmospheres played in influencing the chemistry and structure of the planets and their antecedents. Studies of the martian atmosphere can be used to investigate the role of a primary atmosphere in its history. Atmosphere samples would also inform our understanding of the near-surface chemistry of the planet, and ultimately the prospects for life. High-precision isotopic analyses of constituent gases are needed to address these questions, requiring that the analyses are made on returned samples rather than in situ.

Intravital microscopy (IVM) is a powerful tool utilized to study cellular behavior over time and space in vivo. Much of our understanding of cell biology has been accomplished using various in vitro and ex vivo methods; however, these studies do not necessarily reflect the natural dynamics of biological processes. Unlike traditional cell culture or fixed tissue imaging, IVM allows for the ultra-fast high-resolution imaging of cellular processes over time and space and were studied in its natural environment. Real-time visualization of biological processes in the context of an intact organism helps maintain physiological relevance and provide insights into the progression of disease, response to treatments or developmental processes.
In this webinar we give an overview of advanced applications of the IVM system in preclinical research. IVIM technology is a provider of all-in-one intravital microscopy systems and solutions optimized for in vivo imaging of live animal models at sub-micron resolution. The system’s unique features and user-friendly software enables researchers to probe fast dynamic biological processes such as immune cell tracking, cell-cell interaction as well as vascularization and tumor metastasis with exceptional detail. 3. Abstract
Background and aim: Stomatorhinus cf polli, one of species of
Mormyridae whose flesh is highly appreciated by local communities.
Unfortunately, there is very little information about biology and ecology
of Stomatorhinus cf polli. This study aimed to determine the ecology and
biology of Stomathorinus cf polli.
Methods: The circular dip scoop net of 0.5 mm of mesh and the amplifier
were used during twelve months. 260 specimens of Mormyridae were
collected in a single site of Masendula stream. All fish samples were
weighed using scales, as well as each fish were measured using a tape
measure and caliper. Diet and reproduction were analyzed.
