As a part of the development of understanding the learning
process gained during my A level syllabus, I decided to
implement a further sense of expanding my knowledge and
creativity in regards to media studies and film through two
preliminary task.
The first demonstrates a video whose role was to fulfill the
overall impression of a poem one of my fellow classmate who
recited it during a school event.
The other demonstrates a documentary-oriented project with
another classmate demonstrating a key historical figure.
As a result both projects, helped me both broaden my
knowledge on various filming techniques and on various codes
and conventions which I was not familiarized before.

Task 1 – PoetryVideo Portrayal
In this first task, the film project acts as a visual aid to a
recital of a poem. Due to the poem being in Indonesian
the sense of a visual aid is a an even higher importance
due to the language barrier. The poem’s message
instigates an idea that each individual should not be
criticized for his/her individuality, symbolically
depicted through their “craziness”, as everybody has
their own way or form of expressing it.Therefore as an
aid to the poem Gila (crazy) I have incorporated
children's innocent-like portrayal of craziness since
children as individuals are known for conveying honest
emotion.

Task 2 – Historical Figure Documentary
With the collaboration of a fellow classmate this
second task helped me broaden my knowledge on the
concept and conventions of filming in a documentary
format, which despite not pursuing its conventions in
my film has introduced me into a new experience. This
video illustrates the life and triumphs of Aleksandar
Saicic which marked him into an unfortunately loosely
known legacy in Serbian history. Despite not using
various shot techniques I learned how to precisely
implement the simplistic shots of front medium shots
into a more advanced format such as zooming in, in
the post-production segment of the project.
