1. Digipack Sketches.
For this part of the planning process, during discussion
we tried to take into account influence of research in
order to decide whether to follow, develop, or challenge
key conventions we have identified.
2. Sketch one: Displaying an initial draft for the front cover
panel, we plan on using an image of the main character
holding a cut-out photograph (a motif associated with the
brand identity of the artist). The area surrounding the
photograph will be black and white, the cut-out will be in
colour, showing a door into a surrealistic world. The artistic
nature will also attract our target demographic, according
to our audience research.
The cut-out photograph represents the idea of ‘not fitting
in’ with a crowd, and the colour contrasts represent the
idea of escapism
3. Sketch two: Displaying a draft design of the back
panel of the digipack, this panel is simple yet the
design follows conventions of SubFocus through the
font used and positioning of the song listing. We plan
on using a background image with an artistic effect
here to make the panel interesting to look at.
4. Sketch three: Displaying one of the inside panels (for
the CD). This panel should be quite simplistic but
should give a small insight into the music video, by
having some of the masked characters within the
frame. This follows conventions of covers of horror
movie DVDs and according to our audience research.
Using masked characters on the print products also
draws in the audience and encourages them to watch
the music video.
