Welcome to the first Process Relations newsletter in 2013.
Addressing the high-tech development collaboration
challenge
MEMS and other high tech components have
reached the mass market. There is nearly no new
smartphone, car or game console not using at
least one such component. While the market
demands new products in faster and faster cycles,
the development methodology and infrastructure
does not keep pace. Many products in that space are still developed in
a trial and error setup using ad-hoc homegrown infrastructure. The
distribution of tasks and knowledge as well as the interdependencies
between the different product parts and suppliers are only insufficiently
managed in the R&D phase of the product life cycle. New Product
Innovation(NPI) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts are
mostly neglected.
To succeed in the market, a development setting must provide for
communication and holistic technology information management. The
successful commercialization of new products requires well-managed
business partnerships throughout the supply chain, clear organizational
alignment and a well-structured, clearly defined collaborative product
engineering process.
Process Relations worked together with the MEMS Industry Group®
(MIG) and its members to present a white paper on the Technology
Development Process (TDP). This whitepaper briefly describes the
motivation and history of the TDP template development efforts and
provides an overview of the current status, process and guidelines of

Process Relations at the Sensor + Test 2013 trade fair
Process Relations will exhibit at the Sensor + Test 2013
trade fair 14th to the 16th of May in Nuremberg, Germany.
At this show the new XperiDesk release 2013.1 will be
showcased and the Process Relations Team would be
happy to welcome you at our both 12-453 in Hall 12. In

Introducing the XperiDesk 2013.1 release
Dortmund, Germany – Process Relations is delighted to inform you
that XperiDesk 2013.1 has been released. The new version comes
with various extensions and amendments. The major ones are:
 Extended parameter search component. This new search
capability allows to select logically dependent search conditions
of parameters and their values for data in XperiLink / XperiDesk
experiment management system. With this new selection it
becomes much easier to define all relevant properties and their
settings / ranges for a parameter and additionally increases the
performance of these searches.
 Streamlined view of the most common properties for searching.
This allows the user to restrict the search selection tree, in
order to gain a more simple tree view with the most used entity
properties.
 New reporting capability to directly export a RelationGraph into
MS PowerPoint, next to the export into a Process Knowledge
Transfer Kit. This new export can be flexibly configured to
customer needs, just by defining or adjusting the MS
PowerPoint template.
 Improved Tracked Process Flow graphing. The new
routing algorithm produces a much more structured and leveled
graph for easier following the different DoE routes.
 Several extension and changes in XperiEIC / XperiDesk Excel
Import Component. The most prevalent one is an extension to
more easily configure the placeholders / labels via exporting /
importing the settings to / from a MS Excel sheet.
 Further improved search and data export speeds.
 Improved and more user friendly exporting of search results /
reports and significant performance increase during the export.

The release is available as of today and will be demonstrated at an
introductory Webinar and at the Sensor + Test 2013 trade fair, see
above.
