MEN MANAGEMENT

WELFARE MEASURES
Introduction :
Working conditions of the Police men are
often harsh and there working life is very hard. Hence it is
necessary concern for the welfare of lower ranks of the
police force to improve the living conditions and keep their
moral high. Karnataka Police Manual Vol 3, Chapter-56
& KSRP Manual Chapter-10 deals with the welfare
measures to be taken for the police personnel.
Definition:
“Welfare measure” means anything done
for the comfort and improvement of the staff over and
above the wage paid.
These welfare measures makes the force
strong, dedicated and effective.
VARIOUS WELFARE MEASURES
1.Redressal of Grievances:
The commandant will hold the grievances meeting
of the personnel every month immediately after one of
the parade.
2.Leave planning :
The company commander should collect leave
applications in such a manner that only 10% of
men/officers are allowed to go on leave when there is
no law and order duties.
3.Medical Aid :
The employee and the family members have to be
provided the proper medical treatment reimbursement.
3A. Arogya Bhagya Yojane is being provided through out
the state and Telangana in selected Hospitals.
4. Education Aid :
Commandant can provide the financial aid to the
children of the personnel for pursuing there studies.
5. Health Camp :
Commandant should organize Health checkup
camps atleast once in three months.
6. Welfare Centre :
Commandant should establish a welfare centre lin
his battalion .(like Barber, Dhobi, Carpenter, Gym,
Gardening Grocery shop, Milk Booth, Vegetable Shop,
Water RO Plant, School, CPC canteen, Anganwadi
Kendra, Clinic Facility, ATM Facility, Staff Quarters)

7. Mess and canteen (Dry & Wet):
Commandant will take initiative to start a canteen on a
“No profit No loss”. An officer of the rank of RPI should be
made responsible.

8. Library :
Each battalion should maintain a library for the
use of personnel and their family members to gain
knowledge.
9. Cultural programs :
Commandant should organize cultural
programs in the battalion for the entertainment of
the personnel and their families.
10. Recreation Room :
Recreation room should be maintained in the
battalion with the facilities such as TV, Chess,
Carom board, Badminton etc.

11. Barracks and Messing facility :
The KSRP personnel living away from
the family should be provided with
accommodation in barracks along with the
messing facility in the battalion premises.

12. Flour Mill and grinding machine :
Flour Mill and grinding machines may
be installed in each battalion on “No Profit
No Loss” basis.
13. Children Park :
A well equipped children Park should be maintained in
each battalion for use of children and family members of the personnel.
14. Sports & Games :
Commandant should organize competitions among
the companies at battalion level from time to time.
Inter-Battalion Sports should be held atleast once
in a year.
15. Funeral Expenses:
A sum of Rs.10,000/- is sanctioned from the BF
fund to meet the expenses of the funeral of the
personnel.
16. Police Public School :
Police Public School is established in the campus of
battalion and as for now it is established in KSRP 4th Bn,
6th Bn.,(CBSE Affiliated to New Delhi Aff. No.-831312)
8th Bn., & 10th Bn specially for children of police
personnel. (Police:Non-Police :: 70%:30%)

Government Schemes :
 Wife or legal heirs of the deceased will be provided
a permanent job in the department on
compassionate ground.
 Rs.2,00,000/- is being given as Ex-Gratia payment
to those who die in action in duty.
 Thirty days/Fifteen days salary is being given to the
police personnel for working in lieu of gazetted
holidays.
 Rs. 30,00,000/- is being paid as in case of
accidental deaths.
WELFARE SCHEMES BY GOVERNMENT
 Retired Police Officers Health Trust Through ABY
 The Scheme started on 01/7/2018.
 The total number of members of this scheme is around
1,30,000.
 Retired Police Personnel and their spouse can get
treatment for any ailment (inpatients only) under this
scheme from Empanelled Hospitals by becoming
members of the Scheme.
 Treatment can be taken up to Rs.1.00 lakh per year
which can be extended up to Rs.2.00 lakhs per year in
case of major surgeries including implants.
 On average Rs.50.00 lakhs/month is required to settle
bills.

  • 1. WELFARE MEASURES & MEN MANAGEMENT By:- Shri. Nagendra Kumbar Reserve Police Inspector 6th Battalion KSRP Kalaburagi
  • 2. WELFARE MEASURES Introduction : Working conditions of the Police men are often harsh and there working life is very hard. Hence it is necessary concern for the welfare of lower ranks of the police force to improve the living conditions and keep their moral high. Karnataka Police Manual Vol 3, Chapter-56 & KSRP Manual Chapter-10 deals with the welfare measures to be taken for the police personnel. Definition: “Welfare measure” means anything done for the comfort and improvement of the staff over and above the wage paid. These welfare measures makes the force strong, dedicated and effective.
  • 3. VARIOUS WELFARE MEASURES 1.Redressal of Grievances: The commandant will hold the grievances meeting of the personnel every month immediately after one of the parade. 2.Leave planning : The company commander should collect leave applications in such a manner that only 10% of men/officers are allowed to go on leave when there is no law and order duties. 3.Medical Aid : The employee and the family members have to be provided the proper medical treatment reimbursement. 3A. Arogya Bhagya Yojane is being provided through out the state and Telangana in selected Hospitals.
  • 4. 4. Education Aid : Commandant can provide the financial aid to the children of the personnel for pursuing there studies. 5. Health Camp : Commandant should organize Health checkup camps atleast once in three months. 6. Welfare Centre : Commandant should establish a welfare centre lin his battalion .(like Barber, Dhobi, Carpenter, Gym, Gardening Grocery shop, Milk Booth, Vegetable Shop, Water RO Plant, School, CPC canteen, Anganwadi Kendra, Clinic Facility, ATM Facility, Staff Quarters) VARIOUS WELFARE MEASURES
  • 7. 7. Mess and canteen (Dry & Wet): Commandant will take initiative to start a canteen on a “No profit No loss”. An officer of the rank of RPI should be made responsible. Central Police Canteen Canteen
  • 8. 8. Library : Each battalion should maintain a library for the use of personnel and their family members to gain knowledge. 9. Cultural programs : Commandant should organize cultural programs in the battalion for the entertainment of the personnel and their families. 10. Recreation Room : Recreation room should be maintained in the battalion with the facilities such as TV, Chess, Carom board, Badminton etc. VARIOUS WELFARE MEASURES
  • 9. 11. Barracks and Messing facility : The KSRP personnel living away from the family should be provided with accommodation in barracks along with the messing facility in the battalion premises. VARIOUS WELFARE MEASURES Police Barracks
  • 10. Flour Mill 12. Flour Mill and grinding machine : Flour Mill and grinding machines may be installed in each battalion on “No Profit No Loss” basis.
  • 11. 13. Children Park : A well equipped children Park should be maintained in each battalion for use of children and family members of the personnel.
  • 12. 14. Sports & Games : Commandant should organize competitions among the companies at battalion level from time to time. Inter-Battalion Sports should be held atleast once in a year. 15. Funeral Expenses: A sum of Rs.10,000/- is sanctioned from the BF fund to meet the expenses of the funeral of the personnel. 16. Police Public School : Police Public School is established in the campus of battalion and as for now it is established in KSRP 4th Bn, 6th Bn.,(CBSE Affiliated to New Delhi Aff. No.-831312) 8th Bn., & 10th Bn specially for children of police personnel. (Police:Non-Police :: 70%:30%) VARIOUS WELFARE MEASURES

Government Schemes :  Wife or legal heirs of the deceased will be provided a permanent job in the department on compassionate ground.  Rs.2,00,000/- is being given as Ex-Gratia payment to those who die in action in duty.  Thirty days/Fifteen days salary is being given to the police personnel for working in lieu of gazetted holidays.  Rs. 30,00,000/- is being paid as in case of accidental deaths.   • 16.  Retired Police Officers Health Trust Through ABY  The Scheme started on 01/7/2018.  The total number of members of this scheme is around 1,30,000.  Retired Police Personnel and their spouse can get treatment for any ailment (inpatients only) under this scheme from Empanelled Hospitals by becoming members of the Scheme.  Treatment can be taken up to Rs.1.00 lakh per year which can be extended up to Rs.2.00 lakhs per year in case of major surgeries including implants.  On average Rs.50.00 lakhs/month is required to settle bills.
