8. PKLI & RC– Need for Existence:
There are approximately 10 million patients with Hepatitis C and more than 5 million with
Hepatitis B in Pakistan, majority from the Punjab province. Above that, it’s leading cause of Liver
Failure and Liver Cancer and unfortunately, only a handful of hospitals are specialized for this
challenge.
18 million people suffering from diabetes and at least 40% of all diseases are from chronic
Urological and Kidney origin.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), liver diseases are the 11th leading reason for
deaths in Pakistan with kidney diseases on the 12th spot. Another upsetting fact, majority of
our population is below the poverty line having limited or no access to basic medical care.
Pakistan has the second highest prevalence of Hepatitis C after Egypt and over 1.2 million
patients need liver transplant in the country and 300,000 are in dire need of liver transplant.
9. PKLI & RC – History:
Ground-breaking of the kidney and liver hospital took place on August 14, 2015. Where inaugurated
its first phase on December 25, 2017. PKLI & RC is a corporate body work under fully autonomous
board – (Board of Directors) made by the Parliament through an Act of Parliament, “Pakistan Kidney
and Liver Institute and Research Center Act 2019.” and is not a government institute.
PKLI is situated on a 60-acre plot in the Lahore Knowledge City near DHA Phase VI, with 470 bedded
facilities including OPD, consulting clinics, inpatient facility, pathology, blood bank, pharmacy,
operating rooms, Intensive Care Units - ICU, radiology, day care, dialysis unit and emergency care
facilities with a complete range of modern equipment.
PKLI&RC has effectively served free-of-cost/subsidized medical treatment, including transplantation,
to all deserving patients and about 1.7 million patient interactions as of the end of August 2019 and
still progress is on.
10. PKLI & RC – First Time in Pakistan:
First Public Sector hospital underway for JCIA – USA standards.
Country’s first public sector hospital successfully achieved IS0 – 22000:2018 FSMS
& QMS 9001:2015.
First public sector hospital with state-of-the-art Infrastructure, 600 ICU beds fully
equipped with advance equipment & technology.
PKLI is one of the PET-CT scanner facility in Punjab and fifth in Pakistan.
Total Lab Automation System (TLA), which is rarely found in Pakistan, with 3,600
samples per hour capability is in place to improve lab operations.

The institute is industry leader for deploying comprehensive Hospital Management

clinical and administrative functions but to support services, execution of paperless
data processing, and electronic medical records.
PKLI&RC, as a center of research excellence by an example, intends to start its
educational programs, including postgraduate residency training programs, FCPS,
MS/MD, and School of Nursing.

Half an hour Lunch & Prayer break – 5 days in a week – work routine 08:30 to 17:30 hours (General Shift)
Friday – One hour lunch and prayer break – Jumma Prayer at 13:30 hours at grand mosque PKLI & RC

Bio Metric Attendance Machine:
Basic Rule of First In and Last Out – Maintenance of Attendance record is mandatory, if needed use
