CHAPTER III Methodology
Method of Research
The research method adopted was a mixed method approach, qualitative and quantitative research design, “a way
of finding out truths about a subject by describing the collected data about such subject and determining their
relationships or connections with one another” (Baraceros, 2016, p. 21). “Both qualitative and quantitative data are
instrumental in supporting existing theories and developing new ones. Ultimately, the researcher must determine which
kind of research best serves the goals of their study” (Gcu 2021). The participants were asked the same set of questions on
their compliance of financial report. A deductive approach of inquiry was adopted, starting with theoretical research
questions and ending with the use of empirical data for analysis and interpretation.
Description of research instrument
The sampling method employed was mixed method approach, both qualitative and quantitative data are simultaneously
collected, analyzed and interpreted. In this article the main research instruments (survey questionnaire and interview) usually
used in the mixed method designs are presented and elaborated on. It is believed that using different types of procedures for
collecting data and obtaining that information through different sources can augment the validity and reliability of the data and
their interpretation. Therefore, the various ways of boosting the validity and reliability of the data and instruments are delineated
at length. It is believed that this article can be useful and beneficial to the researchers in general and postgraduate students in
particular who want to start or are involved in the process of conducting research. (Zohrabi, 2013)
Conceptual Framework
The conceptual framework of the study illustrated in Figure 1 shows that Sangguniang Kabataan
in Central Aurora Province have strategies in compliance of their annual financial report.
Nevertheless, they undergo difficulties when they comply the financial report. Thus, they have
to propose measures for overcoming such difficulties.
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE DEPENDENT VARIABLE
1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:
1. Relevant Trainings and Seminars
2. Estimated IRA
2. What are the challenges the Sangguniang Kabataan faced
before and during their compliance of financial reports?
3. What are the strategies and remediations activities of
Sangguniang Kabataan in compliance of financial reports?
4.What is the significant relationship
between the demographic profile of
the respondents to the challenges
faced by the Sangguniang Kabataan
Federation?
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
The researchers made a letter for the approval to conduct the study at every barangay in
Central Aurora Province. The study was then conducted to the SK Chairman and SK Treasurer. Each
mentioned selected officials were interviewed, and allowed to answer the survey questionnaires. After
collecting the data by the researchers, the data is tabulated and tallied. The result would hopefully be the
basis compliance of financial reports of the Sangguniang Kabataan.
