2. Leaders are first of all servants A leader must be humble.
A leader that is not humble is not a real leader.
A humble leader does four critical things: (1) He learns, (2) he listens, (3) he loses,
and (3) he leaves.
The 4 Critical Actions That Changes Your Followers
If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash
one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just
as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his
master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.- John 13:14-16

3. If you keep growing, the people around you keep growing too. If you stop growing, the
people around you stop growing too. If the leader stops growing, the leader becomes a
bottleneck for his group. They don’t grow, unless they leave the organization.
To keep growing, a leader must be a learner. And in order to do this, leaders must look for
good mentors – leaders who are already living your dreams.
1. A Leader Learns
The leader is the LID of the
organization. The leader
dictates the growth of the
group. – John Maxwell

4. 2. A Leader Listens
A humble leader not only learns from mentors, he also learns from his followers. He gives his
followers the freedom to imitate his method, and the freedom to innovate and find their own
style. He believes that the most brilliant ideas come from people in the frontlines. And
because he knows this, he is always grateful for the contributions of his followers, and never
fails to say, “thank you” to everyone. A humble leader is able to listen to his followers when
they confront him with his mistakes. And he is able to say sorry and ask forgiveness when it
is called for.

5. 3. Lose
Leaders intentionally lose so that their followers win. Leaders sacrifice so that others can live.
Leaders are Servants. But the fact that we connect the word “servant” with someone inferior
to us or someone lower in stature means we think being a servant is being weak. If being a
servant is a weakness, then how come God is the greatest servant of all? God is always
ready to “Serve” us. He is our janitor, cleansing our hearts from sin. He is our cook,
nourishing our soul with His Word. He is our driver, bringing us home to Heaven.
A loyal leader loses intentionally, so
that his followers win. But in the end,
everyone wins—including the leader.

6. 4. Leaves
A humble leader raises other leaders. Always. His goal? To raise up leaders better
than himself. Once he has done that, he has this unique ability to fade in the
shadows, to leave his position of leadership — and serve among the people a
“leader without a title.”
