Muhammad Yunus, born in 1940, is the founder of Grameen Bank and co-founder of Yunus Social Business. He established Grameen Bank to offer loans and other services to the poor in Bangladesh, in order to help people living below $1 per day lift themselves out of poverty. Through Grameen Bank and other social businesses, Yunus has helped advance economic and social development globally, contributing to a movement of microlending that aims to end poverty around the world.
