2. Step One: Getting Started
• First off, to either edit an existing nonprofit listing or create a new one, you need
to be an individual member. Follow the instructions in the Individual Start Guide to
do this.
• Once you’re logged in as a member, make your way to the top of the Generocity
site and click on button labeled Community Calendar.
3. Step Two: Suggesting an Event
• In the blue bar at the top of the page, you’ll see a “Suggest an event” button –
click on it!
• Now you’re on the Suggest an Event page. Start telling us about your event by
filling out the “Title” and “Event Description” fields.
4. Step Three: Select a Nonprofit
• Each event listed must be associated with at least one nonprofit in our directory. List the
groups associated with your event by entering their names into the Nonprofit(s) in this event
text field. As you type, a drop down menu will appear, from which you can click to select the
appropriate nonprofit. If you have a list of nonprofits, drag the one you want to be listed as
the primary nonprofit to the top.
• Repeat this process until every nonprofit involved with your event has been selected. To
remove a selected nonprofit, simply click Remove.
5. Step Four: List Associated Causes
• Make it easier for Generocity users to find your event by categorizing it. Click the Causes in
this event button in the dropdown menu. Then click to select each cause associated with
your event. Again, if you’d like to remove a selection, simply click Remove, and indicate which
cause should be primary by dragging it to the top.
6. Step Four: Set Logistics
Click on the calendar icon under Event Date & Time to select the date of
your event. Then proceed to the right and click on the Start time and End
time drop down menus to select the timeframe for your event. Under
Event Location, fill in the address of your event’s location. Then under
Event Categories, select each of the categories that your event fits under.
7. Step Five: Add a Photo
When ready, hit Submit and you’ll get prompt to upload a photo or graphic related to this
event, if you wish.
If you don’t have a photo you’d like to upload, click I don’t have a photo to upload. Click Ok
on the pop up you receive and we will review your submission so that it can be posted on the
website.
If you have a photo you would like to accompany your event posting, click Choose file.
8. Step Six: Crop Your Photo
• Once you select you upload your photo, a cropping tool will pop up. Move and
resize the white box as desired to make your picture look its best, then click the
Crop button.
9. Step Seven: Save and Complete
After you’ve cropped your image, you’ll receive a pop up informing you
that your event suggestion is complete. Click Ok to confirm. We will review
your submission so that it can be posted to the website.
