Positively is a website that allows HIV-positive individuals to rehearse how they will disclose their status to loved ones. Users can view examples from others, get tips from professionals, and create avatars to role play disclosure conversations. The site walks users through thinking about who to tell, customizing settings and avatars, typing their planned disclosure, answering likely questions, and seeing best and worst case scenarios to prepare. Users can then save, publish, or share their rehearsal.

1. Positively helps HIV+ individuals rehearse how they will
disclose their status to loved ones. On the main page, site
visitors can view other rehearsals or start their own.

2. Help is provided throughout the process. Users can see how
others have rehearsed, view tips from professionals, or view
and print brochures to share with loved ones.

3. To personalize the experience, Positively allows the
user to customize an avatar, similar to customizing a
Mii character on the Wii. Users will create avatars
for themselves and for their loved one.

4. Users are asked to think about who they will tell, why they want
to disclose their status, and what the best and worst outcomes
might be.

5. Choosing the right setting is important. Positively asks the user
to decide where they’d like to disclose their status.

6. Now that the avatars and setting have been customized, it’s
time to start rehearsing. The first step is for the user to type how
they would like to disclose their status.

7. Positively will make the other avatar respond with questions that
typically come up during these conversations. These questions
will be pre-determined with the help of professionals and HIV+
individuals who have already disclosed their statuses.

8. When answering questions, users can always get help. They
can see how other Positively users have answered the
question, what experts recommend, or materials that may help
with the topic at hand.

9. After going through all of the questions, Positively plays out a
best and worst case scenario so the user has a preparedness
plan for both.

10. In the best case scenario, the user is prompted to think about
what they might say if their loved one offers help and support.

11. At the end of the rehearsal, the user can play back an animated
video of the conversation, and either save the rehearsal
privately, publish it on Positively, or share it with others.
