2. Alphabetical branding & poster series
GOLDEN STARFISH
BRANDING
Golden Starfish is the Chinese
sister company of Starfish
Project: an anti-trafficking
jewelry company created in
order to break into the
Chinese market.
The logo is created from 3
Chinese characters, “Jin Hai
Xing” literally translating to
Gold Sea Star.

ICON SET
EXPANSION
CAMPAIGN
Designed for Starfish Project,
the expansion campaign was
used across web and social
media platforms to raise over
$100,000.
Along with a short video, the
campaign was designed to
induce a bright and hopeful
look, supporting the simple
message, “we will dream.”
4. STARFISH
CATALOG
The Starfish Project annual
catalog is our platform for
sales. Designed with the at-
home-seller in mind, the
layout invites the viewer to
view the jewelry in intimate
detail while creating an easy
to browse, easy to inspire
look-book feel.
The layout, photography
direction, and jewelry design
were all part of my hand in
this 64 page catalog.
5. MENU
This 9 spread menu
design was created for
Gung Ho: a pizza + salad
+ pasta restaurant
located in Beijing.
The menu was designed
to feature the vibrant
product photography,
directed to feature the
food in a clean, bold,
and colorful manner; a
direct representation
of who Gung Ho is as a
brand.
PLAYING
CARDS
These cards came into
being because frankly,
I desperately needed to
design something just
for fun.
No rules. And no clients.
Somehow this creates
the most challenging
design platform for me,
but I was happy with
these kings and queens
of the suits.
6. ILLUSTRATED
POSTERS
Though I can’t claim
illustration as my formal
educational background, it
has seeped into my natural
design aesthetic.
I’m inclined towards the
playful, and use color
palettes as a muse to flavor
the drawings and of the eras
which inspire them.
Color Palette
LOGOS
A sampling of logos from
throughout the years and
a good representation of
the diversity of logo types.
7. Designed to satisfy a fresh Mexican food craving,
fed by bold colors, geometrics, & cilantro.
ELUVIA
ALBUM
When the band approached
me about creating the
album artwork, they asked
for something from their
roots, but something that
stands out. A bit of
sentiment with a lot of new.
The background photo - a
manipulated picture taken
in Hong Kong near one of
the band member’s homes
- along with a bold use of
Snell Roundhand gave the
classic sentiment they were
looking for.
8. An eight-color silk screen of the internal head
was more of a study on shape, pattern, & color.
Herbologie: designed after studying a variety of
herbs & their most useful places in the kitchen.
This silkscreen was inspired by a the realization
that most of my inspiration had, up to this point,
come from something powered by battery.
9. The set of silkscreens explores the beauty and detail of apparel. After finding images of
clothing that inspired me, I simplified them into black and white abstracted images.
The set of silkscreens was printed in black and white. I wanted
to explore lines within patterns and shapes.
10. Influenced verses the influencer. Trying to frame design into a single box, one is forced to think
about the purpose of design, as well as the creator of it. Is it to enlighten the masses on how
beautiful and accessible information can look? Is it to recreate something already in existence
through the filter of fresh eyes and ideas? To allow what excites and energizes the spirit to form
an inspired work? And herein lies the beauty of design: it can and does all these things. It is both
an influenced process and an influencer of community and culture. As an artist, I have to be able
to drink in my experiences; use them to facilitate my ideas and work. I must be influenced by piers
and strangers, old architecture and modern art, books and music. To be successful, my eyes must
become hungry, looking for inspiration it can devour in order to digests those inspirations into a
simple idea, one I can edit into a distinct design. In contrast, or maybe in companion with, I must
be able to influence the world I draw inspiration from. My designs must be accessible yet impactful.
That is my goal as one who designs: to allow myself to be influenced by the world around me, and
through my own processes, influence the culture the world has given me.
