We took the inspiration for this house from the koi fish. In Japanese culture, the koi fish
represent strength and overcoming difficulties. Its movements were the inspiration for
the house’s more important feature: the curved glass wall that allows the integration
of interior and exterior. Also its colors, usually white, black and red, where used as
color pallet to create contrast between surfaces.
KYOTO - JAPAN
The Turner family. Karen, a very active woman who has travel the world and loves
having small gatherings at home and entertain. His husband Phil, 30 years older than
she. He loves cooking but arthritis makes his life a little bit difficult. He usually uses

but a couple of years ago he suffered a bad car accident were he lost a leg. He uses
a prosthetic one but at home he rather to use his wheelchair.

BOUTIQUE HOTEL
Inspired by nature itself, NATURA boutique hotel is a ten story hotel focused on the
use of natural materials and the creation of spaces for the relaxation and pampering
of its clients.
The main feature of the hotel is the spa, located at the 7th and 8th floor, specially
design to bring a feel of “conection with nature” to the clients.
Amira Ferrer is a successful business woman who likes to travel and explore
the wildest places in the world. During her last trip she decided that she has
had enough of the traditional hotels and the way they treat women. She wants a
boutique hotel with a very upper-class traveling businesswomen in mind. With a design
that avoids primarily the played-out buzzwords of the industry and approaches
the idea of a space for women that avoids traditional definitions of feminity.

THE GREEN BOTTLE
DESIGN STUDIO & TOWNHOUSES
The Green Bottle Design Studio is a store that sales objects made out of PET bottles.
They recollect the bottles and create pieces in their own workshop and then tey sell
them in the store. Also, they encourage their clients to create their own objects and
promote the work of other artists that are creating objects with PET bottles.
The idea was to create a mixed used building based on sustainability and using
environmentally friendly materials and products. A biomimicry solution was required
in order to solve any of the problems in the building (pollution, water treatment,
heat, etc.)
On the ground level we needed to develop a sustainable business, and on top of it
two townhouses.

MANDALA
BUDDHIST MEDITATION & RETREAT CENTER
Mandala Center is a place for deep meditations, contemplation and to get in touch
with the essence of Tibetan Buddhism. The idea was to incorporate some of the most
important symbols of Tibetan Buddhism into the design and create spaces that invite
people from all over the world to join the Buddhist family in their meditations and
retreats. The core of the design is a Mandala, and is used as a social space and as a
connector space for all ground level areas.
For my thesis project I wanted to design a sacred space capable of developing a sense
of place attachment on the community it serves.
I decided to design a Buddhist Center. Buddhism is more a lifestyle than a religion
and to becoming a lay Buddhist doesn’t mean to abandon your believes or faith. This
Center is meant to serve not only the Buddhist community but anyone who wants to
participate on its activities.

GOAL:
The Daisy is inspired in the Great Gatsby and the beauty of its style. She represents
the paragon of perfection; she has the aura of charm, wealth, sophistication, grace,
and aristocracy that Gatsby desperately craves since he was a child. He wants her;
he needs to have her, to get her back because without her everything he has done in
life has no sense.
This luminaire is the representation of Daisy’s charm and style, seeking to create the
same “must have her” feeling that Gatsby experimented in his life.
