Report Overview
In this assignment, you will
Document and reflect on your university education and on learning experiences outside of the university;
Articulate how your upper-level coursework is an integrated and individualized curriculum built around your interests; and
Highlight the experiences, skills, and projects that show what you can do.
A successful report submission will be the product of many hours of work over several weeks.
A report earning maximum available points will be a carefully curated and edited explanation of your work that provides tangible evidence of—and insights into—your competencies and capabilities over time. In each section of this report, you are (1) telling a story about your own abilities, and (2) providing specific examples and evidence that illustrate and support your claims.
✍
Required Report Sections
Here the sections are listed as they must appear in your final graded submission. You’ll arrange the sections in this order when
submitting
the final report BUT you won’t follow this order when
writing
drafts of each section.
Note that each section description contains a Pro Tip that tells you how to proceed with the work – what to attempt first, second, and third, etc.
❖ I. Statement of Purpose ❖
Step 1.
Read these four very different
examples of successful Statement of Purpose sections
.
Step 2.
Consider the differences in tone, style, level of detail etc. Your own statement of purpose may resemble one of these. Indeed, writing a first draft based on an example or combination of examples is a good idea. BUT don’t let these examples limit your thinking or personal expression. You may want to begin with a quote from a famous person, use a quote from your mom, or skip the quote. You may want to discuss your personal motivations or get right down to the facts. You may want to list your classes or discuss how your work-life led you to this path.
Step 3.
Write a rough draft – let’s call that Statement of Purpose 1.0. Write Statement of Purpose 1.0 as quickly as you can and then put it away until after you have completed most of the report. Forget about Statement of Purpose 1.0 until most of your report is at least in draft form.
Step 4.
Once you have a draft of all sections of your report, you are in a good position to revise Statement of Purpose 1. You are ready for Step 4. Take Statement of Purpose 1.0 out its dusty vault and hold it up to the sun. Ah. Now read your report draft and compare it to the claims you made in Statement of Purpose 1.0. Ask yourself these questions:
Does Statement of Purpose 1.0. accurately introduce my report?
Are there important ideas or representative experiences in the report that should be highlighted in the Statement of Purpose but aren’t? Remember this isn’t a treasure hunt where its your reader’s job to figure out what matters. It’s your job to show the reader what matters.
If Statement of Purpose 1.0. isn’t the best map it can be for th.

Comments on readings/practice.
Making study plan and Managing time are the best method to have the peace of mind.
Most interesting points
Feeling organised when finish multiple assessments in the right time.
Most difficult points
Reading the academic articles and find the relative information that supports my topic, How to discuss more in depth.
· Introduction
The above session provided the best academic and coordination skills by explained the multiple essential tips of preparing properly for the assessments and considering the times determinant, which encouraged me to think and write professionally.
· Reflection Discussion on the study plan for assessments
As the English language is my second tongue, I have faced many difficulties with reading and writing academic articles. I found the above topic has a significant impact positively to prepare my assessments in advance, especially when it displays at the beginning of my first semester in the university. However, an ongoing experience on what I gained from this session has a huge impact on me. For instance, after this session, I organised a table that shows each type of the assessments separately, and each one has its basics and elements in its allotted box. As a result, while I’m doing my estimates, I refer to my table and find my structures ready, which helps me seize the time and be more skilled.
· Reflection Discussion on prepare well for my assessments.
As I'm in my first year at the university, I thought there was no need to have an entire assessments plan. Later on, I noticed that working on assessments without organising a plan affects the whole semester assessments, which might cause time conflict in the Assignments due date. I wasn't aware of how important it is the preparing and reading enough sources before start writing. However, Glancing and reading enough information can convert the assessment from stress work to exciting work, which will help set the scene and allow me to think critically and write academically. Based on the benefits that I acquired from the session, the critical thinking and in depth discussion in a particular topic will need to be supported by academic information from reading more articles and spend more time on this part of the work. After this session, I became able to organise my assessments, which allow me to have enough time to working on them and preventing some of the study stresses and cramming. Also, I have been able to take a period to refresh my mind and get my memory retention. However, there is no doubt that it encouraged me to provide the work in a prime manner. This experience will be beneficial in my subsequent semesters to develop my ability to be further organised in my study and aware of how to prepare before the assessments.

self-reflection
I am an international student from China. In China, students simply to study in the school without any internship of part-time work until they graduate. As a result, after the graduation, the students experience the first time of joining the society and taking a job. As an international student, I haven’t developed communication skills and I did not even know how important they are before I took the MGMT350 class. I am now really grateful for the opportunity to take this class and I appreciate it very much.
The first thing I learned from the class is how to write a resume and a cover letter. Before the class, I thought resume and cover letter is the same thing which is similar to an article needed for introducing oneself to recruiters. I did not realize how important the resume and cover letter are and the extent to which they might define the success or failure of job searching process. I realized that the resume and cover letter are one’s first step towards the future life. During the class, I have realized that writing a resume or cover letter is not similar to writing an article. In this process, it is crucial to choose the most suitable style for your resume. One can choose a form of functional or chronological resumes and organize it either as a direct or indirect report. Then it is necessary to create clear points and think over headlines for each part. I think that a thorough resume should demonstrate applicant’s competence and be logical, which would help it to capture recruiters eye-sight. As a result of the class, now I know how to structure a cover letter and a resume and which information to include in them. Thus, I would be able to create a professional and attractive resume as well as to write a cover letter that would draw the attention of potential employers and help me to move forward in my career.
The second thing I learned from the class is how to accomplish work in a team. While being a part of a group, we can collect more ideas from the group members, so the work efficiency would be increased. Such understanding implies that establishing a successful group first requires setting a common goal that can attract people with the same interest and then defining an intercommunication channel. For instance, I chose a case study about Whole Foods Market on blackboard and I met with the team members who were also interested in this case study. Thus, we have created a discourse community focused on the case of Whole Foods Market. We communicated, shared our ideas, were looking for useful information to combine it with our own ideas to complete the case study successfully. This appeared to be an effective way to write an assignment since one gains more knowledge and has more ideas to think about.
The last but not least finding was that one needs to develop communication skills, including writing as well as speaking. At the beginning of the class, I used to give .

Part 1
The Analysis and Interpretation of Qualitative Data
The purpose of this Major Assignment is to immerse you in the qualitative research process. The process includes hands-on opportunities for you to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret qualitative data. This qualitative research process begins with some items that have already been identified for you:
1. The research topic for this effort is the meaning of social change for Walden graduate students. You have been examining videos and reading about social change as part of the course study.
2. The knowledge you have gained plus your reflections on the meaning of social change will form the beginning of the inquiry. That is, the research question you will explore is “What is the meaning of social change for Walden graduate students?”
3. The description of your efforts of gathering, organizing, and analyzing data will form the basis of your methods section. And, the results of those efforts—the analysis and interpretation of those data—will be summarized.
This Major Assignment 2 is composed of four parts, each of which will be completed over four weeks. These parts include: Part 1: Introduction; Part 2, Role of the Researcher; Part 3: Results; and Part 4: Summary.
For this assignment you will complete Part 1. In this Part 1, you will begin to examine social change from a Walden graduate student perspective, explore positive social change as a research problem, and explore the gap in research.
My study is: The Social Security Administration and the Generational Gap among its Employees
Part 1: Introduction
1. Write a background statement of approximately 1–2 pages that includes:
a. What you have learned about social change as a social issue.
b. What you have learned about social change as a research problem. Support your insights with academic citations from the Learning Resources (Attached).
c. Describe the gap that your study will address.
2. From the gap, create a brief purpose statement that is aligned with the following research question:

SUBJECT: Proposal Topic Memo
Overview and Objective:
In this memo, I will explain my design choices for my online profile as well as discuss my final
project revision plan. Also, I will be reflecting upon my experience in ENGL 398.
After reading this document, one should be able to explain every design choice concerning my
LinkedIn profile and understand my thoughts and feelings about ENGL 398.
LinkedIn Profile Design:
The main purpose of my profile is to explain who I am to the reader correctly and. Thus, I tried
to keep the profile simple and easy to navigate.
This is why I began with my summary my profile page with my summary. It gives a brief
overview of who I am, and who I am looking to become. I chose education as the next section
because I am a student. At this point in my life, education is important to me and it is more
powerful than any of my work experiences in terms of making an impression. The next section is
the projects section because I describe my projects in my education portion and it makes sense
for them to be ordered that way. I followed the projects section with my work experience section
because it is the next strongest part of my resume. The skills and languages are left near the end
because they are not a huge part of who I am, but they are still important enough to be included.
Unit 2 Revision Plan and Lessons:
I am going to revise my research proposal once I return from winter break. I will begin on
Jan.12th by revising my Literature Review and adding more information that has been newly
investigated. By Jan 20th I will revise the cover letter and proposal. Finally, on Jan. 25th the topic
memo will be updated adding the new information. At this point the work plan will need to be
pushed back three weeks so I will update that.
Unit 2 has taught me that planning a project before beginning to work on the project can save
loads of time and stress. I have also learned that planning and scheduling a project in advance
results in better quality work.
ENGL 398 Reflection:
I have heard many horror stories about ENGL 398. Luckily, this was not my experience. The
class work was light and enjoyable. It’s not often that I get a chance to write as an engineering
major. I think writing, especially in a technical sense, should be implemented more in
engineering classes.
The class was almost always willing to participate and discuss factors of technical writing which
was good. I think a major reason for this was the enthusiasm the teacher brought to class
everyday (I’m not just saying this because you’re grading this. I think it’s true). I also think that
was the major difference between the terrible ENGL 398 classes and the one I had.
2. Throughout the semester, I improved in my technical writing skills and scheduling my
assignments. As an aspiring physician, I will be interacting with a wide group of people so I will
need the technical background to provide correct information quickly with no misunderstanding.
Also, the in class interaction between classmates in small groups will help me work with people
in the future.
Overall, I enjoyed the class, and I would recommend it to my fellow engineers as not only a good
class, but a class that would help them succeed.
