As I'm in my first year at the university, I thought there was no need to have an entire assessments plan. Later on, I noticed that working on assessments without organising a plan affects the whole semester assessments, which might cause time conflict in the Assignments due date. I wasn't aware of how important it is the preparing and reading enough sources before start writing. However, Glancing and reading enough information can convert the assessment from stress work to exciting work, which will help set the scene and allow me to think critically and write academically. Based on the benefits that I acquired from the session, the critical thinking and in depth discussion in a particular topic will need to be supported by academic information from reading more articles and spend more time on this part of the work. After this session, I became able to organise my assessments, which allow me to have enough time to working on them and preventing some of the study stresses and cramming. I am an international student from China. In China, students simply to study in the school without any internship of part-time work until they graduate. As a result, after the graduation, the students experience the first time of joining the society and taking a job. As an international student, I haven’t developed communication skills and I did not even know how important they are before I took the MGMT350 class. I am now really grateful for the opportunity to take this class and I appreciate it very much.
The first thing I learned from the class is how to write a resume and a cover letter. Before the class, I thought resume and cover letter is the same thing which is similar to an article needed for introducing oneself to recruiters. I did not realize how important the resume and cover letter are and the extent to which they might define the success or failure of job searching process. I realized that the resume and cover letter are one’s first step towards the future life. During the class, I have realized that writing a resume or cover letter is not similar to writing an article. In this process, it is crucial to choose the most suitable style for your resume. One can choose a form of functional or chronological resumes and organize it either as a direct or indirect report. Then it is necessary to create clear points and think over headlines for each part. I think that a thorough resume should demonstrate applicant’s competence and be logical, which would help it to capture recruiters eye-sight. As a result of the class, now I know how to structure a cover letter and a resume and which information to include in them. Thus, I would be able to create a professional and attractive resume as well as to write a cover letter that would draw the attention of potential employers and help me to move forward in my career.
The second thing I learned from the class is how to accomplish work in a team. While being a part of a group, we can collect more ideas from the group members, so the work efficiency would be increased. Such understanding implies that establishing a successful group first requires setting a common goal that can attract people with the same interest and then defining an intercommunication channel. For instance, I chose a case study about Whole Foods Market on blackboard and I met with the team members who were also interested in this case study. Thus, we have created a discourse community focused on the case of Whole Foods Market. We communicated, shared our ideas, were looking for useful information to combine it with our own ideas to complete the case study successfully. This appeared to be an effective way to write an assignment since one gains more knowledge and has more ideas to think about.

Recently we saw that a new study found the supposed human ancestor Sahelanthropus Tchadensis had a chimp-like quadruped body plan. It therefore should not be considered a human ancestor. The hominin fossil Ardipithecus ramidus, or “Ardi,” has been going through a similar evolution. Initially, Ardi was widely called the “oldest human ancestor,” due to its supposed skeletal traits that indicated an early bipedal (upright walking) species. Lead researcher Tim White even called Ardi the “Rosetta stone for understanding bipedalism.” But after Ardi was officially announced, other papers strongly challenged the claim that Ardi was bipedal. One article in Science commented that “All of the Ar. ramidus bipedal characters cited also serve the mechanical requisites of quadrupedality.” Another review in Nature strongly argued that “the claim that Ardipithecus ramidus was a facultative terrestrial biped is vitiated because it is based on highly speculative inferences about the presence of lumbar lordosis and on relatively few features of the pelvis and foot.”

Thinking Styles and Product Development Project Types:
How to Match Them?

Abstract
Focusing on the characteristics of different thinking styles and different product development project types, we suggest that
people should adapt their thinking strategies according to the challenge they face and choose a thinking style that is a best match
for the type of project they are working on. Even though people can perform well in more than one thinking style, they can be
more successful if they adequately choose the most appropriate one for solving the problem in front of them. Considering that
different thinking styles have different ideas and conclusions as results, we propose how to match them to a specific product
development project type that has a certain degree of change in the product as a deliverable. For further research, these findings
open the possibility to define the most appropriate creative problem solving methods and techniques that spur and support a
specific style of thinking.

Next, translate all of the bold faced medical terms into simple language as if you are explaining it to a patient or to someone who may not understand medical terminology and incorporate these simple translations into your story.
This means you should remove the actual medical terms in bold face print but leave the meaning in place with your translated explanations of these terms.
Your finished work should be easily understood. It is OK to alter the sentence structure to accomodate your translations.
Remember to use simple basic language to explain these complicated medical terms to another person.
Highlight your new translation either by bold facing or capitalizing the words.
Do not just insert the definitions. You will not get credit for this and points will be taken off.
The goal here is for you to learn how make the complicated sound simple.
Example:
Initial sentence with medical term in place: The patient is having an appendectomy.
Translation into simple terms in your story: The patient is have his appendix cut out and removed.
In other words, rewrite the story completely in layman's terms or plain English so that someone without a medical or science background would be able to understand.
Your translation must be clear and easy to understand.
Take into account the context of how the terms were used.
You must use all the bold faced terms "translated meanings" in your story.
So when you are complete you will have a list of terms plus definitions (with sources cited) plus a rewritten story in plain English.

Recently we saw that a new study found the supposed human ancestor Sahelanthropus Tchadensis had a chimp-like quadruped body plan. It therefore should not be considered a human ancestor. The hominin fossil Ardipithecus ramidus, or “Ardi,” has been going through a similar evolution. Initially, Ardi was widely called the “oldest human ancestor,” due to its supposed skeletal traits that indicated an early bipedal (upright walking) species. Lead researcher Tim White even called Ardi the “Rosetta stone for understanding bipedalism.” But after Ardi was officially announced, other papers strongly challenged the claim that Ardi was bipedal. One article in Science commented that “All of the Ar. ramidus bipedal characters cited also serve the mechanical requisites of quadrupedality.” Another review in Nature strongly argued that “the claim that Ardipithecus ramidus was a facultative terrestrial biped is vitiated because it is based on highly speculative inferences about the presence of lumbar lordosis and on relatively few features of the pelvis and foot.”

Thinking Styles and Product Development Project Types:
How to Match Them?

Abstract
Focusing on the characteristics of different thinking styles and different product development project types, we suggest that
people should adapt their thinking strategies according to the challenge they face and choose a thinking style that is a best match
for the type of project they are working on. Even though people can perform well in more than one thinking style, they can be
more successful if they adequately choose the most appropriate one for solving the problem in front of them. Considering that
different thinking styles have different ideas and conclusions as results, we propose how to match them to a specific product
development project type that has a certain degree of change in the product as a deliverable. For further research, these findings
open the possibility to define the most appropriate creative problem solving methods and techniques that spur and support a
specific style of thinking.

Make a separate list of all the definitions of the bold face terms in the story first from your reference sources like a medical dictionary or website etc.
Start by listing all the bold face medical terms and their definitions and cite your sources of reference. Example: appendectomy: the surgical excision of the organ known as the appendix which is a vestigial organ (Webster, 2010)
Then list all your full references at the bottom of your work.
Submit this list as part of your work.
3. Translate definitions into simple terms and insert them into the story:
Next, translate all of the bold faced medical terms into simple language as if you are explaining it to a patient or to someone who may not understand medical terminology and incorporate these simple translations into your story.
This means you should remove the actual medical terms in bold face print but leave the meaning in place with your translated explanations of these terms.
Your finished work should be easily understood. It is OK to alter the sentence structure to accomodate your translations.
Remember to use simple basic language to explain these complicated medical terms to another person.
Highlight your new translation either by bold facing or capitalizing the words.
Do not just insert the definitions. You will not get credit for this and points will be taken off.
The goal here is for you to learn how make the complicated sound simple.
Example:
Initial sentence with medical term in place: The patient is having an appendectomy.
Translation into simple terms in your story: The patient is have his appendix cut out and removed.
In other words, rewrite the story completely in layman's terms or plain English so that someone without a medical or science background would be able to understand.
Your translation must be clear and easy to understand.
Take into account the context of how the terms were used.
You must use all the bold faced terms "translated meanings" in your story.
So when you are complete you will have a list of terms plus definitions (with sources cited) plus a rewritten story in plain English.
4. Submitting Your Completed Work:
Submit your work on a Microsoft Word document using the attachment tool.
Submit all work as one WORD document.. Your file name should end in .doc or .docx or you can use a plain text file format ending in .rtf

As I'm in my first year at the university, I thought there was no need to have an entire assessments plan. Later on, I noticed that working on assessments without organising a plan affects the whole semester assessments, which might cause time conflict in the Assignments due date. I wasn't aware of how important it is the preparing and reading enough sources before start writing. However, Glancing and reading enough information can convert the assessment from stress work to exciting work, which will help set the scene and allow me to think critically and write academically. Based on the benefits that I acquired from the session, the critical thinking and in depth discussion in a particular topic will need to be supported by academic information from reading more articles and spend more time on this part of the work. After this session, I became able to organise my assessments, which allow me to have enough time to working on them and preventing some of the study stresses and cramming. Also, I have been able to take a period to refresh my mind and get my memory retention. However, there is no doubt that it encouraged me to provide the work in a prime manner. This experience will be beneficial in my subsequent semesters to develop my ability to be further organised in my study and aware of how to prepare before the assessments. Conclusion

While I am confident in what I have gained from the foundation course regarding references and paraphrase, rapid referencing correctly is a skill I hope to improve further as the professionally paraphrasing and referencing supports the assignment value incredibly. In addition, the ability to reference and paraphrase is an important skill that causes me to feel confident in reading/perusing any articles without fear of taking strong passages with avoiding plagiarism. When I studied this session and did my first assignment, it was challenging to follow structures that I recently learned. I felt that my work has become more reliable and robust than last year's work because I knew what to paraphrase and reference. Also, I had an idea of the differences between the elements of the reference styles, which allowed me to rephrase, referencing the concepts related to my topic professionally. However, upon seeing the feedback of my draft, I felt disheartened, but once I understand that and read the lecturer comments, I realised that mistakes were worthy additions to the deliverable, which support my knowledge of how the mistakes could happen in the references field and trying to avoid them in the subsequent assignments. It clarifies that the benefits and the effectiveness of this session led me to recognise some tips and tricks in paraphrasing Sufficiently concepts, ideas, and theories. Preserving the value publications given by the lecturer and writing some notes on what I have learned may be helpful for the long term in my study career. Conclusion
- 5. 1. What were your original motivations for going to University? Self-education and learning new experiences are the first step to accustom my brain to be more aware. A perfect education precedes every successful plan, so if I want to achieve my goals successfully and have a prestigious job desired. I must educate myself and get my scientific Certificate obtained by studying my field of interest in the University. Moreover, Certificate is the first requirement to apply for a job which means it is relative to my practical life, which encourages me to reach what I planned enthusiastically.
- 6. 2. What were your original motivations for studying your selected degree? I have two main motivations that encourage me to study Tourism & Event. The first one because I am a person who grow up in a country that the tourism field was mostly neglected. The second motivation is that currentl y my country is imposing a project called 2030 vision which Is greatly focusing on the tourism industry and events. Therefore, I would like gaily to make my mark on developing my field of interest there as they are in the beginning of the project.
