This document defines and explains polynomial functions. A polynomial function can be written as F(x)= ax^n + bx^n-1 + cx^n-2, where a, b, c, etc. are real numbers, x is the variable, and n is a positive integer that determines the degree. The degree refers to the highest power of x, and the leading coefficient is the number that multiplies the term with the highest power of x. Standard form arranges the terms in descending order without parentheses, while factored form fully factors the polynomial into linear factors.
