• The national research attempts of Turkey on Polar Regions have
been started by TuArk(Scientific Advisory Board) comprised of
scientists from 11 different national and international universities
operating under Polar Research App & Res Center. The research
areas of the academicians active on this Board are climate change,
glaciers, alien species, pollution, marine diversity, protected areas,
marine mammals, botany, marine, geology, mining, mapping,
remote sensing. Legal evaluation studies on Arctic and Antarctic
regions are defined and studied within the Center.
• While the individual studies of the academicians involved in
Scientific Advisory Board traced back to 1977, ITU Polar Research
App & Res Center became official on January 17, 2015.

• Education have major role in PolReC’s aims too. PolSTeam is
the interface between PolReC scientific works and public.
With this mission PolSTeam, creates education programs to
instruct people about scientific works, global climate change,
Arctic and Antarctic reagons, etc.
• These programs and events include workshops, meetings,
trips, certificate programs, etc.

• Team which is originated from university students,
also gives lecturers to other university students to
enhance circle of science. These lecturers are
organized to educate «New educators». With that
aim, PolSTeam is the representative in
APECS(Association of Polar Early Career Scientists)
as a APECS Turkey.

• «Polar Clubs» were founded in primary and middle schools.
Younger students are having knowledge while they try to
create new ideas and materials with themselves. This system
provides that more intelligent learning instead of monolog
system. Therefore, « New Scientist for the future» grows up.

APECS

• APECS(Association of Polar Early Career Scientists) take a
role to provide communication with researchers who work on
Polar Regions and Science in the world. Becausefe of that,
researhers can have chance to talk other scientists and have
new perspectives. PolReC is the only representative for
APECS from Turkey with PolSTeam.
