Globalization has brought both benefits and harms to China and India. While it boosted GDP growth and reduced poverty, it also increased inequality and regional disparities. In both countries, the incomes of the wealthy grew much more than the poor, and urban areas saw more development than rural areas. Globalization contributed to exploitation of workers and environmental degradation as well. However, government policies could help address these issues by supporting small farmers and industries, improving rural infrastructure and services, and enacting stronger labor and environmental regulations.
