An Introduction… “ Podcasting” is like a pre-recorded radio show that you can listen to on the computer, an MP3 player, or a CD. Table of Contents      Back to Title Page

Online Lectures Back to Table of Contents   Since Podcasts were invented, anybody has the opportunity to post a self-made video on the internet.  One way that teachers can take advantage of this technology is to record a lesson, or a lecture and post it online.  This will give any students the chance to hear the lesson or lecture despite the fact that they were absent.  It also gives students who were in attendance a chance to hear any parts that they might not remember.
Posting Students’ Projects Back to Table of Contents   This will give students a chance to showcase their projects and achievements through the academic year!
Listening Examples of Band Pieces Back to Table of Contents   By teachers providing recordings of short excerpts or entire pieces, students will be able to hear how a piece should sound with regards to style, tempo, harmony, and musical texture.
Virtual Instrument Lessons Back to Table of Contents   Teachers will have an opportunity to record a lesson for all of the instruments.  They can update each lesson weekly.  Although this may be time-consuming, it will help save time in the future with playing in different styles, tempos, harmonies, etc.

Using iPods for Education Back to Table of Contents   Recently, iPods are being used more and more for other reasons, besides just storing and playing music.  In the education field, iPods are attached to a little microphone that records the teacher’s voice as they lecture or teach a lesson.  Once a teacher records themselves on their iPod, they can play back the recording and take notes on their lecture or lesson.  This will help them make any necessary changes to the lesson for next time.
Students’ Questions/Comments Back to Table of Contents   By students recording their questions and/or comments as a Podcast, the teacher can watch or just listen to the students opinions about a class or a lesson that they were not sure of, or maybe they found particularly interesting.
Educational Blogs Back to Table of Contents   Teachers can post a Podcast about a lesson and, to ensure that the students watch it, they can have the students write a summary in an educational blog.

Podcasting

  • 2. An Introduction… “ Podcasting” is like a pre-recorded radio show that you can listen to on the computer, an MP3 player, or a CD. Table of Contents   Back to Title Page

  • 4. Online Lectures Back to Table of Contents  Since Podcasts were invented, anybody has the opportunity to post a self-made video on the internet. One way that teachers can take advantage of this technology is to record a lesson, or a lecture and post it online. This will give any students the chance to hear the lesson or lecture despite the fact that they were absent. It also gives students who were in attendance a chance to hear any parts that they might not remember.
  • 5. Posting Students’ Projects Back to Table of Contents  This will give students a chance to showcase their projects and achievements through the academic year!
  • 6. Listening Examples of Band Pieces Back to Table of Contents  By teachers providing recordings of short excerpts or entire pieces, students will be able to hear how a piece should sound with regards to style, tempo, harmony, and musical texture.
  • 7. Virtual Instrument Lessons Back to Table of Contents  Teachers will have an opportunity to record a lesson for all of the instruments. They can update each lesson weekly. Although this may be time-consuming, it will help save time in the future with playing in different styles, tempos, harmonies, etc.

  • 9. Using iPods for Education Back to Table of Contents  Recently, iPods are being used more and more for other reasons, besides just storing and playing music. In the education field, iPods are attached to a little microphone that records the teacher’s voice as they lecture or teach a lesson. Once a teacher records themselves on their iPod, they can play back the recording and take notes on their lecture or lesson. This will help them make any necessary changes to the lesson for next time.
  • 10. Students’ Questions/Comments Back to Table of Contents  By students recording their questions and/or comments as a Podcast, the teacher can watch or just listen to the students opinions about a class or a lesson that they were not sure of, or maybe they found particularly interesting.
  • 11. Educational Blogs Back to Table of Contents  Teachers can post a Podcast about a lesson and, to ensure that the students watch it, they can have the students write a summary in an educational blog.
