 Once
  a
  li)le
  red
  hen
  found
  a

grain
  of
  wheat.
  “Oh
  what
  joy!”

she
  exclaimed

  .
  Then
  she
  went
  to

her
  friends
  and
  ques>oned
  “Who

will
  help
  me
  plant
  the
  wheat?”

  “I
  Wont”
  Said
  the
  dog.”
  “I

already
  do
  enough
  for
  the

farmer.”

  “I
  wont”
  the
  Cat
  yawned.
  “I

hate
  the
  dirt!”

“
  I
  wont”
  snorted
  the
  pig.

  “Wait,
  will

there
  be
  mud?”
  The
  hen
  shrugged

her
  shoulders
  and
  was
  pre)y
  sure

they
  would
  not
  play
  in
  the
  mud.

“Then,

  no”
  sighed
  the
  pig.

“Well
  I’ll
  do
  it
  alone”
  the
  hen
  said

sadly.
  Then
  she
  tro)ed
  off
  singing
  a

li)le
  tune.
  Once
  the
  hen
  was

finished
  she
  asked
  her
  friends,
  “Who

will
  help
  me
  reap
  the
  wheat?”

“I
  wont”
  said
  the
  dog.

“I
  cant”
  said
  the
  cat.

  “I’m
  just
  to

>red
  to
  work”

  “You’re
  not
  >red.”

“You’re
  just
  a
  fat
  tabby”
  the
  pig
  and

dog
  taunted.

  “Quit
  your
  barking”
  the

cat
  snarled.

  “By
  the
  way,
  we
  cant

help
  either.”
  I’ve
  got
  um..
  uh….

Some
  food
  yes!
  Some
  food
  to
  take

care
  of.

The
  dog
  couldn’t
  answer
  he
  was

gone
  in
  an
  instant
  chasing
  a
  ball.

“Then
  I’ll
  do
  it
  alone”
  the
  hen

said
  as
  she
  sadly
  walked
  to
  the

garden.

When
  the
  hen
  was
  finished
  se

went
  to
  her
  friends
  and

demanded
  “Who
  will
  help
  me

thresh
  the
  wheat?”
  Wait,
  you
  all

can’t
  because
  you
  have
  some

ridiculous
  deed
  you
  need
  to

do!”
  Her
  friends
  were
  shocked

at
  her
  words
  ,but
  they
  were

glad
  she
  didn’t
  bother
  them.

When
  the
  hen
  finished
  she

went
  to
  her
  friends.
  “Who
  will

help...”
  “Must
  have
  go)en

>red
  of
  me
  asking.”
  The
  hen

did
  what
  she
  had
  to
  do.
  She

went
  straight
  to
  the
  mill.
  The

hen
  got
  there
  and
  read
  a
  sign

that
  said,
  Out
  to
  lunch.
  “ The

nerve
  of
  some
  people!”

The
  hen
  finished
  and
  came
  to

the
  kitchen
  and
  started
  baking.

ASer
  she
  had
  prepared

  the

bread
  she
  took
  a
  nap.
  When
  a

few
  hours
  were
  up
  something

starter
  to
  smell
  good.
  The
  hen

Peered
  into
  the
  kitchen
  and

there
  were
  all
  her
  friends

staring
  into
  the
  toasty
  oven.

The
  hen
  chuckled
  and
  tried
  not

to
  look
  at
  them.
  She
  pulled
  out

the
  bread
  and
  her
  friends
  all

begged
  for
  a
  piece.The
  hen

laughed
  and
  said
  “I’ll
  give
  you

bread
  when
  pigs
  fly”.Then
  the

hen
  ate
  it
  all.

When
  the
  hen
  finished
  she

heard
  a
  commo>on

outside.She
  walked
  out
  and

there
  was
  pig
  on
  the
  roof.He

looked
  like
  he
  had
  wings
  with
  a

bucket
  of
  paper
  mache
  next
  to

Him.Then
  he
  started
  chan>ng

“bread,here
  I
  come!”
