The Little Red Hen finds some seeds and wants help planting and harvesting them. The lazy duck, cat, and dog all refuse to help. The Little Red Hen does all the work herself, planting and caring for the seeds until they grow into a bountiful wheat crop. When she wants help taking the wheat to the mill to be made into bread, the other animals again refuse. Only the duck agrees to help that time. They take the wheat to be made into bread, but then the baker eats all the bread himself.
