These are some of my picture options for my front
cover, I have used a blank white screen as I think
that this would draw more attention to my artists
and keep the focus of my magazine on them. I think
that my models are appropriate for my genre of
magazine as they both look alternative and like they
really do play rock music. I think as the background
is so plain it will be easy to write the cover lines and
masthead over it without it distracting my audience
from what is really important on my cover. The
colours my models are wearing are quite dark
compared to the white background, this makes it
bold and means it will catch the publics eye and
make them want to buy my magazine. I think that
these images fit well with my rock music genre, as
you can see that one of my models is wearing dark
clothes and has stretched ears and piercings. This
is a common stereotype of people who listen to
rock music as this genre is all about individuality
and being yourself, which you can already tell my
models are strong believers in. I think that the mise-
en-scene fits in well with my genre through the dark
clothing and facial expressions of my models.
These are some of my options for my
double page spread. I think that this
location would be good to use because
I think that it has a good mise-en-scene
that fits in with the rock music genre. I
think that my models outfits and facial
expressions give quite an edgy,
alternative vibe to my magazine and
make it appropriate to my genre. I think
the dark colours and overgrown plants
make these images look edgy and
alternative. I think that these images
conform to stereotypes of rock music
as the models are wearing dark clothes,
they are wearing eyeliner, have
piercings and look relatively moody.
These images of Molly playing a guitar
could go on my contents page, I think
that this would be a good image to use
on my contents page as it could be
linked to one of my articles. I think that it
does fit with my genre as in most of
them, Molly has quite an angry facial
expression and is wearing very dark
lipstick, typical of women on the rock
scene. She is also wearing a black
jumper which goes with my colour
scheme and fits in to the mise-en-scene
of my magazine as it is very dark. I think
the fact that she is playing a guitar
makes this image conform to
stereotypes of rock music even more as
this is an instrument that is typically
used in this genre.
I think that I could use these
pictures of Alice on my contents
page. I think either of these images
would be appropriate as in the first
one, she looks as though she is
having fun, which subverts a
stereotype of rock artists, but is
actually what they do. This would
create a good contrast with the rest
of my images as the people in the
others look sad and moody. I feel
that the bottom image would be
appropriate as she looks quite
straight faced and almost moody,
which fits in with the genre of rock.
I think these images would look
good on my contents with a border
that fitted my colour scheme as
they would lighten up the page and
make it look slightly less dark and
depressing.
I think that I could use one of
these images on my contents
page as the boy in it looks like
he would fit into the rock genre,
he is straight faced and wearing
some dark clothes. I think that
this setting is very good as the
brick wall shows he is edgy and
fits in very easily with the rest of
my magazine. Another option I
have for one of these images is
to crop it into one of my double
page spread images from the
second slide, to create a three
piece band. I think this is a very
good idea as most bands have
more than two people and most
magazine focus their main
articles on large bands, rather
than solo artists or duos.
