This document provides information on 5 thematic working groups that were part of the PLANET project. It details the objectives, activities, and expected results of projects submitted by each group to the Europe for Citizens programme. In total, 103 participants from 5 countries and 36 municipalities were involved across the 5 projects, which focused on topics like active aging, rural development, entrepreneurship, culture, and waste management.

The third EPS–ICTP–UNESCO–SEENET-MTP Workshop, as a part of Project “Towards the integration of the physics community in CEI countries into the ERA” on Physics Education was held in Trieste on December 11-12, 2014.

The project had its fundamentals from the OCSE Manual “A guide for local
governments, communities and museums ” that explains the importance and effect
on local community of transforming a museum from a place to visit into a “living
museum”, seen from the citizens and local government like the central point of the
local development.

9. AGE: Active Engaged Generation

Objective: Facilitating active ageing by increasing social integration
of elder people
Activities: trasnational conferences and workshops for associations
or NGOs to present new opportunities for elderly and reciprocal
exchange of knowledge/best practices
Expected Results:
- Increased Participation of Elderly
- Improved Cooperation among local authorities and associations
- Facilitated intergeneration dialogue
10. RAISED: Rural Innovative Sustainable Development
Participants: Portole (HR); Borgo San Lorenzo (IT); Grisignana
(HR); Tordoia (ES); Mjölby (SE); A Laracha (ES); Xaghra (MT)
Objectives:
Enhance Rural development and mitigate emigration and unemployment,
and Increase the attractiveness of our municipalities to better exploit their
potentialities
Activities: 7 local assessment meetings in each participant
municipalities followed by an international seminar where all the
best practices collected at local level will be presented. An expert
meeting to develop a toolkit for local stakeholders. A seminar on
youth unemployment.
Expected Results:
- Increase territorial marketing skills among local stakeholders
- Create new opportunities for young people in the rural sector
- Provide examples of best practices for the local political agenda
11. EUC4BIZ: European cities network for business friendly environment
Participants: Bydgoszcz (PL); Ferrol (ES); Kielce (PL); Norrkoping
(SE); Warsaw (PL); Zagreb (HR)
Objectives: Create conditions for economical growth in urban areas and
a More favourable climate for entrepreneurship
Activities: 4 international events which including seminars,
workshops, study visits, a final conference and two local events in
each participating city/municipality. A pre-project analysis will be
conducted to understand local needs and best practices for sharing.
Expected Results:
- Exchanging competences in supporting entrepreneurship
- Creating a set of guidelines for promoting entrepreneurship
- Creating a long lasting cooperation among the members of the network
12. ENCULD: European Network on Culture and Local Development
Participants: Arts Council England (Newcastle upon Tyne);
Buzet (HR); Cieszyn (PL); Linköping (SE); Plonsk (PL); Scandiano
(IT); Trollhättan (SE); Vänersborg (SE)
Objectives: Prioritize cultural policies in the local context by
Deepening two strategic aspects for the partnership: the connection
between culture and tourism and the development of local creative sector
Activities: 10 transnational events and activities for developing
and exchanging cultural policies as a driver for local development.
The activities will promote sustainable network building process
with a strong European dimension.
Expected Results:
- Increased priority on the political agenda
- Cultural activities more in line with the needs of citizens
- Improved collaboration amongst municipality departments
- Improved conditions for entrepreneurial activity in the field of culture
13. ECOWAS: Raising awareness for eco-friendly behaviors
in waste collection practices
Participants: Abegondo (ES); Lublin (PL); Mölndal (SE);
Travesetolo (IT); Sosnowiec (PL)
Objectives:
1 - Promoting common values and strategies though the sustainability of
waste management as a part of wellbeing of the European citizens.
2 - increasing eco-friendly behaviors in recycling and reuse though
interaction and participation among the European citizens
Activities: Three thematic seminar at trasnational level. With the
results and conclusions from these seminars an action strategy will be
discussed and tested in a pilot community selected in each of the five
municipalities.
Expected Results:
- Deepen knowledge of good strategies in waste management.
- Increase percentage of separate waste collection, recycling and reuse.
- Raise motivation toward eco-friendly behavior among european citizens
