This document is a film pitch for a horror movie called "Haven" that will use the serial killer and slasher subgenres. funding designed to help new film-makers, such as BFI NET.WORK.
Alternatively I could raise money and build an audience via crowdfunding.

Exhibiting at a film festival such as The Leeds International Film Festival
(the largest in England outside of London) would captivate more people,
broaden the audience, and also make them interested in future
productions by this company.

➢ Initially there are two characters both of whom we follow on their separate
routes
➢ One has exited a train, the other a car
➢ One of them is revealed to be carrying a sharp implement while the other is
innocent
➢ From different directions they walk to the same location
➢ It becomes clear that an encounter is inevitable
➢ When approaching a pedestrian railway crossing the protagonist notices the
killer behind her
➢ She must choose in seconds whether to cross over the tracks in front of a
fast train or be killed. There is no time to escape
➢ Flashbacks throughout the opening sequence show the killer before they
were evil but why they changed remains unknown
➢ This becomes the mystery of the film

I chose an ironically positive title for my horror film. You would
probably associate ‘haven’ with safety, nature or holidays.
The word is defined as a place of safety or refuge – however
the setting of my film becomes quite the opposite, changing
from being a haven for the citizens to being one for the killer.

SERIAL KILLER
To make it clear that this is one of the sub-genres, the antagonist claims a victim with in
the first few minutes. This prepares us for multiple deaths throughout the film because in
other sub-genres there may only be one murder that takes most of the film to plan and
take place.
SLASHER
This will be established using the iconography of a knife and blood.

My target audience is mostly teenagers
and young adults. Although I have used
some basic stereotypes to represent them
in the image, they are usually reformers
rather than main-streamers. The best way
to target them is through social media
since this age group spends much of their
free time on the internet, so I will be able to
appeal to them by sharing this poster I
designed on social media such
as Facebook and Twitter.
