The piston is a component inside an engine that is connected to the crankshaft and moves up and down in the cylinder. It has compression rings and an oil ring assembly to seal the cylinder and distribute oil. The connecting rod connects the piston to the crankshaft to transfer the linear motion of the piston into rotational motion. Ring grooves house the piston rings as the piston moves through its four stroke cycle of intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust.
